House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY 14th District) completely gushed over a drag queen after a recent Washington DC performance. Sasha Velour won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9 and now AOC wants you to know that Velour is wonderful and part of what makes our country so great.
The event was held on Veterans Day. Which means that instead of being with veterans who have sacrificed so much for our freedom … the Democrat Congresswoman celebrated the day with a drag queen.
AOC, who claims she is fighting for the lowly “99%” of Americans, hypocritically sat in a premium box seat to watch Sasha Velour’s “Smoke and Mirrors” one man drag show.

AOC Gets A Standing Ovation
Philadelphia Gay News described Sasha Velour’s show as an “autobiographical” performance art piece that “combines drag, video and magic.” This sounds like it was right up AOC’s alley and certainly reaches her target of supporters.
The crowd agreed and gave the freshman Congresswoman a standing ovation as you can see in the tweeted video below.

“I thought it was amazing! It was incredible, it was fabulous!” Ocasio-Cortez excitedly said after the show. “I’m like that Lady Gaga moment where she’s like, ‘stunning,’ ‘amazing,’ ‘impeccable,’ ‘genius’!”
“Can you believe this? From the revolutionary of our time. I love you so much, thank you,” the tall drag queen gushed in response to AOC’s adoring comments.
You can watch the socialist Democrat fan girl in celebration with her new drag queen idol in the below video.

Velour also tweeted that AOC is an “inspiration.”
You are truly an inspiration @AOC. Thank you for all you do to support our queer family. What a brilliant human, I’m still overwhelmed from this meeting! pic.twitter.com/JHiYG9txU9

Sasha Velour’s Drag Show
The drag queen’s website has a rather dramatic description of the show. Emphasis is mine.
Velour introduces audiences to a whole new side of her artistry, through 13 dazzling and genre-busting lip-synch performances, all directed and choreographed by the queen herself. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as she explodes into rose petals, vanishes in a poof of smoke, saws herself in half, conjures a rainstorm, even transforms into a tree in front of your eyes (to name just a few). But the real magic is the way that these illusions and deceptions serve to unmask deeper truths, sparking fresh analysis of gender, fame, family, and the importance of dreaming big and living life over-the-top.
If you’re wondering just what kind of performance AOC gushes is so brilliant, a promotional video for Sasha Velour’s “Smoke and Mirrors” can be seen below.
Historically, drag queens were an exaggeration of female stereotypes.
Since wearing blackface is seen as being racist, shouldn’t drag queen performances be misogynistic?
It seems feminist AOC has another hypocritical issue on her hand.
