Referee Jason Herzog Promises to “Get Better”, Following Anthony Smith, UFC Jacksonville Controversy
Following Anthony Smith’s loss to Glover Teixeira at UFC Jacksonsville, there’s been widespread outcry over the beating “Lionheart” took. Now, the fight’s referee, Jason Herzog, has admitted he should have stopped the fight sooner.
Anthony Smith’s coaches are taking heat for not stopping the fighter’s main event last night with Glover Teixeira, despite the brutal beating he was taking in the later rounds. But, “Lionheart” has made it clear his corner did what he wanted.
Early on, it looked like Glover Teixeira’s winning streak was going to be snapped by Anthony Smith. But once again, Teixeira gutted it out, and came back to score another finish.
Ovince Saint Preux hung in there with one of the UFC’s most experienced heavyweights, but ultimately, the light-heavyweight contender couldn’t get by Ben Rothwell.
Karl Roberson was forced out of a scheduled fight with Marvin Vettori today at UFC Jacksonville. But, based on video footage that’s surfaced, it looks like Vettor was willing to go in the hotel lobby.
