When Tito Ortiz relayed that he thought his third fight with Chuck Liddell could sell 200,000 pay-per-view buys, at least, most folks in the MMA industry scoffed. Now, estimates are in for the card’s PPV totals and they’re low…really low.
There’s been plenty of debate about whether Chuck Liddell should continue to fight, following the 48-year-old’s knockout loss to Tito Ortiz last weekend, and now the legend’s been suspended indefinitely.
Lots of people were skeptical about the ability of Chuck Liddell to compete at a high level, at the age of 48 and after a seven-plus year break from fighting, and those folks likely feel validated today.
Although Chuck Liddell’s return to the cage last night ended in disastrous fashion, and despite the fact “The Iceman” will turn 49 in a couple of week’s time, the legend hasn’t said whether he’s retired again.
Chuck Liddell will return to the cage at the age of 48, and for the first time since 2010 tomorrow, when he battles rival Tito Ortiz for a third time.
Hitting the 200,000 pay-per-view buy mark is a rare thing in the MMA world, outside of the UFC, but Tito Ortiz sounds pretty confident that his bout with Chuck Liddell will blow past that mark.
