A key women’s bantamweight bout will be part of Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 27 event that features the return of TJ Dillashaw.

Dillashaw, coming back after a two-year suspension for taking a banned substance, meets Cory Sandhagen in the main event live on ESPN and ESPN+ from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

But that is not all.

Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson are set to square off in what could be an interesting women’s bantamweight contest with future title-contender implications.

The 26-year-old Ladd is coming off a third round finish over Yana Kunitskaya that improved her record to 9-1 overall. She is 4-1 with the UFC, also besting Sijara Eubanks, Tonya Evinger and Lina Lansberg.

Ladd’s lone loss came to former champion Germaine de Randamie. She has scored six career knockout and one submission win.

Standing on the other side of the Octagon will be Chiasson, who is 7-1 with a 5-1 mark in the UFC. She bested Marion Reneau in March and also topped Shanna Young last year.

The lone loss for Chiasson was by decision to Lansberg in 2019. She also went 2-0 on The Ultimate Fighter.

With the division currently dominated by Amanda Nunes, new challengers are always needed. Nunes, a two-belt holder, has also hinted that she could be hanging up the gloves in the near future.

That should not go unnoticed by Ladd and Chiasson, as both have a big-time opportunity this weekend.
