Another injury has caused WWE superstar Samoa Joe to vacate his NXT Championship.

Samoa Joe Vacates NXT Championship Due To Another Injury

NXT just took another major hit as NXT World Champion Samoa Joe has vacated the title. He is currently out with an undisclosed injury.

Joe uploaded the following video on social media to share the news.

“Recently WWE medical has informed me that due to certain injuries, they’d like to have me step away from the ring for a brief, but indeterminate amount of time,” said Joe. “I realize this week we are on the cusp of a new NXT. We are on the brink of a new era in our history and that era deserves a fighting champion.”

“That’s why it makes a difficult decision very easy to make. Effective immediately, I relinquish the NXT championship.”

“Best of luck to those who will vie for it. My sincerest condolences to whoever wins, because I will be along shortly to recollect what is mine.”

Currently, there is no word on what type of injury Joe is dealing with. Also, no timetable for a return was mentioned.

Only a few weeks ago, Joe won the title for a record third time by defeating Karrion Kross.

Samoa Joe Very Prone To Injuries In WWE

Unfortunately, Joe’s main roster run was filled with injuries. Therefore, he spent large chunks of time on the sidelines.

Samoa Joe Was Just Rehired After Surprise Firing

Eventually, WWE decided to add Joe to the announce table on RAW. That lasted over a year as he was dealing with a concussion.

He was then fired shortly after WrestleMania 37, but brought back quickly as part of NXT. He served as an enforcer for General manager William Regal, but returned to competition.

NXT is preparing for a major overhaul this week and now they have no world champion. So, we will have to see how WWE moves forward with crowning a top dog.
