The first ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel was a serious milestone, but it did not go without any hiccups. Extra security was undoubtedly present for this match, but it didn’t stop someone from throwing a bottle in Natalya’s direction.

Not Everyone Happy With The First Ever Women’s Match?

It needs to be said that the match between Lacey Evans and Natalya at Crown Jewel was a big surprise. We also need to admit that the reaction in Saudi Arabia to both women was heartwarming and amazing.

Unfortunately, not everyone seemed to be excited about the women’s match. During Natalya’s entrance, one fan threw a bottle at her legs. Fortunately, she was not injured.

Nobody truly knows why the bottle was thrown, but many speculate it was because of the women’s match. Still, let’s not let one bad apple ruin the moment. Women had their first women’s match in Saudi Arabia, and this is a big victory for equality.

Natalya and Lacey Evans Change Their Outfits

As you can imagine, Nattie and Lacey had to change their outfits for the pay-per-view. While some fans have problems with that, I don’t really have an issue with it. After all, this is a part of the Saudi culture that should be respected. Though not all fans were thrilled with their outfits.

Many women choose to protect their modesty with the clothes they wear, so changing outfits for this legendary occasion is certainly a little price to pay.

Big Emotions After The Match

Natalya and Lacey Evans at Saudi Arabia

As expected, there were some big emotions from Lacey Evans and Nattie after their match. Both women even broke kayfabe to celebrate the exceptional moment. I do believe this was approved by the WWE beforehand.

Nattie is one of those superstars who has a pretty good grip on her emotions, but this was different. You could see the sense of achievement on both superstars’ faces. After all, they will go in the history books as the first two women who had a wrestling match in Saudi Arabia.

Future Matches In Saudi Arabia?

Women Working Crown Jewel

Lacey and Nattie have paved the way for more women’s matches. While I do not believe there will be an equal amount of women’s matches as in a regular pay-per-view, it is something to work towards.

There are plenty of women that could convince the traditional Saudi government about the value of women’s wrestling. Women like Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte should certainly be on top of the list.

More Women’s Matches

You cannot forget about the NXT women’s division either, which has brilliant talent in the form of Io Shirai, Shayna Baszler, Rhea Ripley, and many more.

Still, I need to say that one women’s match in Saudi Arabia does not make everything okay. Remember, the Saudi government ordered the murder of a journalist and pretty much got away with it.

We all know this isn’t right, so one women’s match will not make the difference. The regime needs to be held accountable. Freedom of speech exists, but not in the Middle East. Let’s hope the regime changes for the better in the future.
