Last month, Bully Ray suffered a nasty concussion at the Ring of Honor Death by Dishonor XV iPPV. At the time, Ray revealed the concussion was so bad that he was “not even sure if [his] career should continue.”
And unfortunately, at the ROH Global Wars: Chicago iPPV on Sunday, Ray appeared to retire from in-ring competition.
After The Addiction (Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) defeated KUSHIDA and Cheeseburger in a tag match, Ray hit the ring to prevent Kazarian from putting Cheeseburger through a table.

Afterward, Ray cut a promo in which he stated that it’s “about that time” for his career.

The remarks Ray made were in a similar vein to ones he’d given previously at the Global Wars events in Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and Columbus. However, at the end of his remarks in Chicago, Ray brought a fan into the ring and gave him a piece of “the last table I’m ever going to break.”

Moment’s after Ray’s announcement, ROH COO Joe Koff told WrestleZone, “Bully’s health is the most important thing in the world to us. His statement was serious and we take it seriously.”
Ray also tweeted a parting message to fans:
THANK YOU to the office @ringofhonor, “the boys” and most of all EVERY fan around the world.
It has been MY Honor. ?#GlobalWarshttps://t.co/cPfyHbXdwG

But this seemed to be an angle as Bully joined up with Tommy Dream to battle the Briscoes at Final Battle.
