The DWI case of the singer Justin Timberlake has just taken a shocking turn in a way that looks tough for his arresting officers.
Twist In Timberlake Case
Timberlake’s lawyers are now surprisingly claiming that police allowed his friend, who they say had also been “clearly” drinking, to drive the singer’s car home after his arrest.
Timberlake, 43, was arrested on June 18 in the Hamptons. He was driving at around 12:30am when a Sag Harbor Village Police Department after allegedly observing him run a stop sign and out of his lane while driving a 2025 BMW X7.
Timberlake had been hanging out with friends at the American Hotel prior to his arrest. He told the officer that he’d only had one martini, but he was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Timberlake’s lawyer Edward Burke Jr. has claimed from the start that the singer was not actually intoxicated. Now, he’s alleging that while arresting Timberlake, the arresting officers let a person who had been “clearly” drinking drive away in his vehicle.

Allegedly Intoxicated Woman Drove Timberlake’s Car
Sources told TMZ that the car that Timberlake had been following turned back around when he was pulled over. A woman and her husband were in this vehicle, and the female exited the car before asking the cops questions.
“Are you going to arrest Justin Timberlake?” she reportedly asked the officers.
The woman then offered to drive Timberlake to her home, where he was spending the night. The cops weren’t having it, however, and arrested him anyway.
Insiders claim that when the woman asked the officers if she could drive Timberlake’s car to her house, however, they allowed her to do so. She then got in the car and drove away.
The woman had reportedly been at the American Hotel for two hours before Timberlake arrived. The sources say that it was clear that she had been drinking, yet police still allowed her to drive off.
Burke’s plan is reportedly to argue that the two young officers that arrested Timberlake were so off in their judgment that they let a visibly drunk person drive off right in front of them. He believes that if they were able to properly evaluate her, they can’t be trusted to have properly evaluated Timberlake.
“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case,” Burke argued before a judge last month. “In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances.”
