Lady Gaga and the team behind Wednesday are submitting her track The Dead Dance for Emmy consideration in the Outstanding Music and Lyrics category.
Standout Moment in Wednesday

The move, reported by Variety, signals a major push behind the song, which has already become one of the standout musical moments of the hit Netflix show’s second season.
The Dead Dance appears in Episode 7, sound-tracking a key scene at the Venetian Gala where Enid (Emma Myers) and Agnes (Evie Templeton) share a memorable dance sequence.
The contagious track was written and produced by Gaga alongside her longtime collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut, the same team behind several of her recent hits.
Its gothic‑pop pulse and theatrical flair have made it an instant favorite among fans of the series.
Working on Wednesday Set
Gaga confirmed the song’s arrival – and its importance to the season – during the Wednesday Graveyard Gala in New York City last year.
She told the crowd, “I had a wonderful time working on Wednesday season two, even just being a small part of the show.”
“I loved working with Tim Burton and Jenna [Ortega] and everyone here, it’s so incredible. Thank you. I’m also here to confirm my song The Dead Dance is coming.”
The pop icon also made a cameo in season two as Rosaline Rotwood. The mysterious Nevermore Academy teacher’s past becomes entangled with Wednesday Addams’ latest investigation.
Her casting followed the viral resurgence of her 2011 track Bloody Mary. The song exploded on TikTok thanks to fan‑made edits of Wednesday’s iconic dance scene.
Speculation around Gaga’s role intensified after she and director Tim Burton were spotted filming on Mexico’s eerie Island of the Dolls. The location is famous for its unsettling atmosphere and folklore. Burton later praised her creative energy, saying, “She’s such an artist… working with her is endlessly inspiring.”
Akon Comments on Lady Gaga

Meanwhile, Akon has said Gaga had “the glow” of a superstar when he first discovered her.
The 53-year-old singer could instinctively sense that 40-year-old Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – would become a pop megastar. He later helped sign her to a joint deal with Interscope Records and his KonLive Distribution in 2007.
Akon – real name Aliaune Thiam – appeared on Monday’s edition of Capital XTRA Breakfast with Robert Bruce and Shayna Marie. The latter asked the Don’t Matter hitmaker for whom the glow is evident.
Akon replied, “Oh, Gaga. For sure. She had the glow immediately. Like, it was one of them things.”
