The pop star Lady Gaga was left “heartbroken” on Monday when she was forced to cancel a concert in Montreal, Canada hours before she was set to go on. Though she was desperate to perform for her fans, health issues caused doctors to strongly advise Gaga against taking the stage.

Gaga Cancels Concert

Gaga, 40, took to her Instagram Stories to say that that she would be canceling her third and final performance at the Bell Centre in Montreal. The reason why she had to cancel the show is because she is suffering from a respiratory infection.

“I’m so sorry to share that I’m unable to perform tonight and have to cancel the show,” Gaga began. “I’ve been fighting a respiratory infection for the past few days and doing everything I can to rest and recover. But it’s gotten worse.”

“My doctor has strongly advised me not to perform today. And to be honest I don’t think I could give you the quality of a performance today that you deserve,” she continued.

Gaga went on to address her fans directly.

“I know how deeply disappointing this is, and I truly could not feel worse about letting you down,” Gaga wrote. “I’m so sorry to everyone who made plans to be there and support me. Being in Montreal and performing for you on Thursday and Friday was magical and deeply meaningful. To everyone who was coming tonight, I’m absolutely heartbroken and so sorry.”

Gaga had previously performed in Montreal on Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3, as a part of her Mayhem Ball Tour. Once she leaves Canada, there are just three shows left in this tour. Two of them will be in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Gaga will then end the tour with a concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In September of last year, Gaga had expanded her tour with new dates for 2026. Those concerts began back in February, with the first show being in Glendale, Arizona. In the months since then, Gaga has performed in various North American cities, including Boston, Washington, D.C., and Montreal.

Gaga Previously Cancels Concert

This isn’t the first time that Gaga has had to cancel a show on this tour. Back in September, Gaga canceled her show at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida minutes before she was set to take the stage.

“Hi everyone, I am really so so sorry but I need to postpone tonight’s show in Miami,” Gaga wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time.

The “Applause” singer went on to say that her “voice was extremely strained” during her rehearsal and her vocal warmup.

“My DR and vocal coach have advise me not to go on because of the risk it poses,” she continued. “I want to be hardcore and just push through this for you but I don’t want to risk long term or permanent damage on my vocal cords.”

“There is a significant risk based on all our combined experience with a show like ours and as you know I sing live every night — and even though this was a hard and agonizing decision I would be more afraid of the long term implications on my voice,” Gaga explained.

‘I Hope You Can Forgive Me…’

Gaga concluded by apologizing to her fans.

“I hope you can forgive me and accept my sincerest apologies for any disappointment. Let down. Inconvenience,” she wrote. “I tried so hard to avoid this, I take serious care of myself to be able to put on this highly demanding show. I love my fans so much. Respect you and hope you can accept my sincere regretful apology. We are trying to reschedule the show as quickly as possible.”

Gaga later performed in Miami on March 13, 2026.

Gaga has some of the most loyal fans out there. Indeed, they call themselves her “little monsters.” While her fans in Montreal are undoubtedly disappointed, we’re sure they’ll forgive her.

Get well soon, Lady Gaga!
