While performing in pouring rain at the Carolina Country Music Fest in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Sunday night, the country music star Carrie Underwood suffered a brutal fall off of the stage.
Underwood Takes A Tumble
Video obtained by TMZ shows Underwood, 41, walk toward the back of the stage in pouring rain as she finishes performing her classic song “Before He Cheats.” Underwood is shockingly then seen tripping and falling offstage and out of view.
The fall looked so brutal that the audience responded by screaming. Check out the footage for yourself in the video below.
Underwood Responds
Underwood appears to have referenced the fall the next day on social media.
“Well, last night sure was fun! And though the ending was quite unexpected, it made for a night we’ll never forget!” she wrote. “Thanks for being awesome, #MyrtleBeach !”
Underwood later returned to social media to post a harrowing video of her performing in a “massive downpour” of rain.
“We won’t let a little rain stop us!” she captioned the footage. “We won’t let a massive downpour stop us, either!”

Underwood Headlines Carolina Country Music Fest
The New York Post reported that this was the first time that Underwood headlined the ninth year of the Carolina Country Music Fest. There, she performed “Before He Cheats” as well as other hits of hers like “Jesus, Take the Wheel” and “Good Girl.”
Despite the rain, the event was still a huge success, as it exceeded 35,000 attendees.
These days, Underwood spends most of her time in Las Vegas, where she’s had her Reflection residency at Resorts World since 2021. The residency has been so popular that Underwood has kept extending its run. As of this writing, her final show is scheduled for October.
“What I love about Vegas is you’re in one place, but everybody is from everywhere,” Underwood previously told Rolling Stone. “It’s a mishmash of people from all over the place. It’s cool to look out at the audience and think about that.”
Underwood’s History
Underwood continuing to perform even in the pouring rain is a testament to her country roots. She was born on March 10, 1983 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Underwood was then raised on her parents’ farm in the nearby town of Checotah. Her father worked in a paper mill, while her mother was an elementary school teacher. When Underwood wasn’t working on the farm, she enjoyed singing in church.

These humble beginnings toughened Underwood up as a hardworking farm girl. She later used this tenacity and grit that she’d learned in her youth to help her win season four of American Idol in 2005.
In the years since then, Underwood has become one of the most popular country music stars in the industry. She has won 8 Grammy Awards, 9 CMA Awards, and 16 ACM Awards.
Underwood is a true professional and a class act, so it’s not surprising that she didn’t let some rain stop her from performing for her fans. We can only hope that she wasn’t injured in her fall in any way!
