The rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has broken his silence after the Department of Homeland Security raided his homes in Los Angeles and Miami on Monday amidst a sex trafficking investigation into him.

Combs Breaks His Silence

Federal agents raided Combs’ properties on Monday amid sex trafficking allegations filed in two lawsuits against the star.

“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences,” said attorney Aaron Dyer told People Magazine. “There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.”

Dyer went on to say that Combs “was never detained but spoke to and cooperated with authorities” throughout the raids.

“Despite media speculation, neither Mr. Combs nor any of his family members have been arrested nor has their ability to travel been restricted in any way,” the attorney continued.

While no family members were arrested, Combs’ sons Justin and Christian “King” Combs were handcuffed outside of his Los Angeles home during the raid. Combs, who is currently facing five sexual assault lawsuits by multiple women and one man, was seen on Monday pacing nervously at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport while the raids were happening.

‘Unprecedented Ambush’

“This unprecedented ambush — paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence — leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits,” Dyer concluded. “There has been no finding of criminal or civil liability with any of these allegations. Mr. Combs is innocent and will continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

The DHS has said little about the raids, only confirming that they were taking place on Monday.

“Earlier today, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners,” said a DHS spokesperson. “We will provide further information as it becomes available.”

Douglas Wigdor, a lawyer representing two of the women accusing Combs of sexual assault, celebrated the raids in a brief statement.

“We will always support law enforcement when it seeks to prosecute those that have violated the law,” he said. “Hopefully, this is the beginning of a process that will hold Mr. Combs responsible for his depraved conduct.”

Combs Claims He’s Innocent

The sexual assault allegations against Combs began to come to light in November of last year, and he issued a blanket statement the next month to defend himself from all of them.

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” he said at the time. “For the last couple of weeks, I have sat silently and watched people try to assassinate my character, destroy my reputation and my legacy.”

“Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday,” he continued. “Let me be absolutely clear: I did not do any of the awful things being alleged. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”

At the time of this writing, Combs has yet to be hit with criminal charges. However, one can’t help but think that the DHS never would have carried out such raids as the ones that were done on Combs’ properties if they did not have a strong case.
