Meghan Markle has been an official member of the British royal family for just eight months, yet she has already had numerous staffers mysteriously quit their jobs amidst rumors that she is difficult to work for. Now, yet another member of Meghan’s staff has called it quits.
Fox News reported that Meghan’s bodyguard, a police officer with Scotland Yard, has quit after only six months on the job.
“Unlike someone who has grown up in the royal family and has been used to having close protection from an early age, it can be constraining,” a royal source said. “Even though [Meghan] was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely. But in her current role, she can’t go anywhere without her protection team, and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her.”
The bodyguard’s name has not been revealed, with insiders only saying that she was a woman. This comes weeks after Markle’s personal assistant Melissa Touabti quit after just six months, and other staffers have quit as well.
It seems that Meghan is having a difficult time adjusting to life as a royal, which is completely understandable. Though being a royal may seem like it’s all fun and games, there are many things about it that aren’t so enjoyable. As a famous actress, Meghan spent years in the public eye in a very different way than she is now. During her time on “Suits,” Meghan could interact with her fans on social media and defend herself when she was attacked in the press. Now, she is virtually not allowed to interact with anyone in a non-official capacity, and she has to be closely watched and protected wherever she goes.
It’s understandable that Meghan would have some turnover as she tries to find the perfect staff. We can only hope that she gets through this rough patch and finds her footing as a royal soon!
