Jane Austen books may have been around for centuries, but adaptations of her stories are still popular today. And one of her most beloved stories is back with another adaptation. And the newest Sense and Sensibility movie finally has key cast members.

The work follows three Dashwood sisters and their widowed mother as they are forced to leave the family estate in Sussex and move to a modest cottage on the property of a distant relative in Devon. There, the two eldest girls experience love and heartbreak that tries the contrasting characters of both.
Along with the new Sense and Sensibility movie, fans of the classic novelist learned that a Pride and Prejudice miniseries is in the works as well at Netflix. Focus Features and Working Title Films’ new movie has added several new members to the cast list, including the love interests.
Daisy Edgar-Jones, most known for her role in Normal People, will lead as the practical Elinor Dashwood, and fans are excited to see how her work compares to the best adaptation from 1995. Along with Edgar-Jones, we learned that Esmé Creed-Miles, known for her role in Hanna, will be playing Marianna Dashwood.

New additions have been announced, though, including CaitrÃona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George McKay, Herbert Nordrum, Bodhi Rae Breathnach, and Fiona Shaw. This cast includes the love interest for both Elinor and Marianne.
McKay will play Edward Ferrars, whom Elinor admires, and Dillane will play John Willoughby, with whom Marianne is infatuated. Nordrum plays Colonel Brandon, who is another of Marianne’s admirers.
For the rest of the cast members, Balfe will play Mrs. Dashwood, Breathnach is Margaret Dashwood, and Shaw will portray Mrs. Jennings.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know about the upcoming Sense and Sensibility movie so far. Since it was announced in June 2025, and production is now underway, we’re hoping we’ll see the movie in 2026, but it could be later.
