Book lovers everywhere are almost done waiting for the next best movie adaptation. After news broke that the People We Meet on Vacation movie adaptation is on the way, we’ve been waiting patiently for more information. Luckily, we finally have a first look.

Netflix unveiled the first look at the upcoming adaptation based on Emily Henry’s bestseller. The story follows Poppy and Alex, best friends for a decade, who, despite living in different cities, spend every summer together. Over the decade of trips they go on, their relationship slowly starts changing, making them question if their long-standing friendship could be more.
With such a riveting plot, fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for more information on their favorite romance book. We learned that Emily Bader and Tom Blyth were starring as the leading roles in the film, and now we have a first look at the stunning story.
The first look captured the playful and romantic energy between the main characters as they’re on vacation. And Emily Bader spoke about her role, saying that she jumped at the opportunity to play an imperfect romantic lead.
“Poppy’s like sunshine,” Bader said in an interview with Bazaar. “She burns really hot and fast, and she talks too much and she fills all the silences. She’s loud, she’s a little chaotic, but in the best ways; even in the way that she dresses and the career path that she’s taken, she’s always imagining the next amazing thing that she’s going to be doing, even when she’s already in an amazing experience.”
“She’s simultaneously exhausting and addicting as a person—and I love that. I love a character that sometimes feels a little bit too much, but that’s just who she is.”
Thanks to the first look images and the excitement the cast has in playing these roles, it sounds like it’ll be a fantastic movie adaptation. The People We Meet on Vacation movie adaptation will release on January 9, 2026, on Netflix.
