What is Weapons About?
The official logline for the film is below:
“When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night and at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”
The innocent teacher of the elementary class gets the brunt of the blame from angry and scared parents. As they try to figure out what happened to the children, weird things start to occur.
When Does Weapons Premiere?
Weapons is set to premiere in theaters on August 8th in the United States. The film was supposed to debut on January 16th, 2026, but schedule tweaks moved the film up on the calendar back in March.
The first trailer for the horror film was released on April 29th. In it, Miss Gandy arrives at school on a normal Wednesday to find all her students are missing after waking up at 2:17 am the night before and vanishing into the darkness.

The Stars of the Weapons Movie
Josh Brolin and Julia Garner star in the Weapons movie. Brolin plays Archer Graff, the father of one of the missing children. Garner plays Justine Gandy, the teacher who found out the next morning that almost all of her students are missing. Below are some other notable characters and actors to keep an eye out for in the film.

- Austin Abrams as Anthony, a drug addict and thief

Early Reactions to the Film
While the movie is not in theaters yet, there have been some advance screenings for critics. Their reviews are extremely promising.
One critic called Weapons “a horror masterpiece and the best film of the year,” while another commented that the film was “downright terrifying and cements Zach Cregger as a strong voice in modern horror and a master of mystery.”
