The Newest Addition to a Prominent Franchise

Rather than an origin story, viewers get to see Superman in a new light. After making his way to Earth from he planet Krypton, he grapples with his powers while trying to blend in as meek journalist Clark Kent.

This is the first solo Superman film in over a decade since Zack Snyder’s 2013 Man of Steel, which grossed $670 million at the worldwide box office. This kicked off a period of several DC films, ending with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023.

Confirmed Cast

Along with Corenswet, several other heavy hitters are making a screen appearance.

These include Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), and María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer).

Other Released Content

The trailer adds to a couple of other sneak peeks at the film, including a teaser trailer and a scene that includes our favorite superdog, Krypto.

The first teaser, which was released in December, shot to more than 250 million views, the most ever for DC Comics and Warner Bros. The teaser included several scenes that also appear in the trailer, all bolstered by the Superman theme song.

In a second piece of released footage, Superman is rescued by his trusty dog and sidekick, Krypto. His loyal pooch drags him to the Fortress of Solitude, where a robot crew helps heal the injured hero.

Fan Consensus

Fan excitement has continued to increase as new clips are released from DC Studios. Many are excited about this new portrayal of Superman, and how he believes in doing good to save lives, regardless of politics.

Plus, this Superman seems to be showing a lot more color and emotion, something lacking from the hero in previous installments.

Below are some featured comments on YouTube that show how important this new Superman is to the DC Universe.

  • @Macapta: “DUDE, the voice change from Clark to Superman when he says “Miss Lane” is crazy. It’s subtle but somehow so effective.”
  • @CharlsCruz-37y: “I love this, it isn’t just about strength or power. It’s about heart. Humanity. Struggle. The rise after the fall. Cavill’s Superman was iconic, but this feels like something deeper. Raw. Uplifting. It’s literally the symbol of hope.”
  • @therkokid215: “This might be what DC needed. No more origin stories. Just stories.”
