There are several ways to enjoy Mickey 17 at home. If you have a Max subscription, then you can stream the film. Other ways to watch include a Hulu Premium Subscription, a Prime Video Premium Subscription, or a small fee on Apple TV.

In the UK, the film is only available to buy or rent from Prime Video, Apple TV, and Microsoft Store, among others.

Despite losing money at the box office, Mickey 17 has found a new audience on Max, becoming the most-watched movie on the platform since its release there on May 23rd.

What is Mickey 17 About?

Adapted from the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, Robert Pattinson stars as Mickey Barnes, a down-on-his-luck man who signs up to be an “expendable” on a space mission. Aiming to colonize the ice world Niflheim, Barnes is used to explore the planet and make sure everyone else is safe by doing all the dangerous jobs.

When he dies, Barnes reprints into a new body with most of his memories intact to do everything all over again, leading him to be Mickey 17. However, after one regeneration, things go very wrong.

Audience reactions to the film have varied, but despite a loss at the box office, the film is performing well on streaming services. Mickey 17 received a 6.8/10 on IMDb and was popular among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a “Certified Fresh” score of 77%. The Popcornmeter isn’t much different, coming in at 73%.

The overall consensus is that Mickey 17 delves into themes of identity, colonialism, and corporate greed. Pattinson excels with all his iterations of Mickey and his dark humor, but some of the pacing in the film has prompted criticism.
