What is The Phoenician Scheme About?

The Phoenician Scheme centers on wealthy businessman Zsa-Zsa Korda, who’s looking to start a new enterprise. By his side is his estranged daughter, Sister Liesl, whom he appoints as his sole heir to his estate.

The two quickly become the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists, and a group of assassins, all looking to take Korda down for good.

Audience Reactions

Overall, most of the reviews for The Phoenician Scheme were positive. Rotten Tomatoes scored the film at a 77% for the critics’ review, and a 70% on the Popcornmeter.

The website’s consensus states: “A caper made with all the intricacy of a Rube Goldberg machine, The Phoenician Scheme doesn’t deviate from Wes Anderson’s increasingly ornate style but delivers the formula with mannered delicacy.”

Other ratings include a 70 out of 100 through Metacritic, a 6.7 out of 10 for IMDb, and a B- on CinemaScore. Most fans enjoyed the distinctive style and performances on screen, but sometimes the film was lacking in substance and emotional investment.
