First Look at The Map That Leads to You Starring Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa

Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks) and KJ Apa (Riverdale) are diving back into their romance roots with Prime Video’s newest film, The Map That Leads to You.

The streaming service has officially released first-look images of the film, and it looks like Cline and Apa are bleeding chemistry onto the screen. You might even need a box of tissues for the end.

What is The Map That Leads to You About?

The movie focuses on Jack and Heather, who meet on an overnight train to Barcelona. Even though she tries not to be, Heather is charmed by Jack. He and his friend Raef join Heather and her girlfriends Amy and Connie for the rest of their trip in Europe.

As the trip goes on, sparks fly between Heather and Jack. The group travels throughout parts of Spain, Portugal, and Italy, and their connection seems to be more than just a quick fling. However, things get complicated, with the movie’s twists being equally sweet and heartbreaking.

Madelyn Cline’s Character

Madelyn Cline plays the female lead, Heather, an obsessive itinerary-maker just out of college and ready to start an adult job in New York City. She is feeling the impending adulthood pressing down, and is trying to enjoy her freedom while she can.

KJ Apa’s Character

KJ Apa plays the male lead, Jack, an easy-going guy who is also a bit of a mystery. Jack doesn’t like plans and doesn’t work; instead, he follows his grandfather’s travel journal through Europe, trying to revisit all the places listed in the journal.

Behind the Scenes and Supporting Cast

Lasse Hallström is directing The Map That Leads To You, with past projects including Safe Haven, Dear John, and the tearjerker Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. Les Bohem (The Alamo) and Vera Herbert (This Is Us) wrote the screenplay for the film.

Supporting cast for the film includes Josh Lucas, Madison Thompson, Sofia Wylie, and Orlando Norman, among others.

Yes, The Map That Leads To You is based on a book by the same name, authored by J.P. Monninger. The romance novel was called “romantic and unforgettable” by Nicholas Sparks. You can buy the book at any major retailers before the film premieres.

When Does the Movie Come Out?

The film will premiere on Prime Video on August 20th and can be viewed by those who have a Prime Video subscription. The streaming service coins the movie as a “coming-of-age story,” hinting at self-discovery in Heather as well as romance.

This follows a string of summer romance films from the company, with 2024’s The Idea of You becoming a hit on the service, starring Anna Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine.
