While some films may do amazingly at the box office and draw in lots of fans, even winning awards, they might not truly live up to the hype. Whether it’s lackluster CGI, poor acting, plot holes, or other issues, these movies haven’t sat right with several moviegoers. Below are six overrated movies that fans just aren’t completely sure of, that may not quite live up to the hype.

5. Star Wars: A New Hope (1977)

Star Wars may be one of the most successful franchises in the world, but some think the series is completely overrated, from the characters, costumes, weapons, and constant state of combat.

Forrest Gump can be an inspiring tale to some, while others loathe the film’s acting, lack of quality, and confusing dialogue.

3. Avatar (2009)

Avatar is praised for its advances in the CGI world. However, not everyone agrees, saying the characters don’t look very good due to the CGI and going further to criticize the action scenes, unoriginal plot, and boring characters.

2. Twilight (2008)

One of the most fiercely debated and overrated movies out there is Twilight, based on the series by Stephanie Meyer. Between the plot of having a teenage girl choose between two suitors and the poor imagination of vampires and werewolves, viewers were not impressed.

While Titanic is one of the most awarded movies, it has become one of the most overrated, too. Between the love affair between two vastly different people in different social tiers and the ending water scene, this film just doesn’t make sense to some viewers.
