Julia Garner, who brought unparalleled grit to the Ozark series as Ruth Langmore, is reportedly set to take on the role of Madonna in the pop icon’s self-produced biopic.
Madonna has renewed interest in the big screen movie about her own life after putting it on hold for a recent tour, The Sun reports.
The outlet claims that Garner is on board with taking on the role of the main character in the biopic and has been “secretly taking dancing and singing lessons for the past year” in preparation.

“Madonna has only just finished her tour but in her mind it is on to the next project and fulfilling her dream of getting the biopic made,” one Hollywood source tells the outlet. “Julia is still her lead actress and they have remained in touch for the past year, talking through ideas.”
“They are committed to creating some magic,” the source added.

Madonna: Her Best Movie Roles
Madonna’s movie career has been a mixed bag over all, with notable performances in some films while others were widely panned.
However, she did have a handful of solid roles, with one even earning her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Do you remember which one?
Here are some of Madonna’s best movies.
Desperately Seeking Susan (1985)
In her first major film role, Madonna plays Susan, a free-spirited New York City woman who inadvertently leads a bored New Jersey housewife into an adventure. The role showcased Madonna’s charisma and a decent level of natural acting ability.
Desperately Seeking Susan introduced the song “Into the Groove,” Madonna’s first number-one single in the UK.
The film was considered a commercial success and received predominantly positive reviews.
A League of Their Own (1992)
Madonna portrays Mae Mordabito, a member of the Rockford Peaches, an all-women’s baseball team during World War II.
This film is a blend of comedy and drama, and Madonna’s performance, as a flirtatious taxi dancer with the nickname “All the Way Mae,” contributes to its success.
It reached number one at the box office and became the tenth-highest-grossing film of the year in the United States.
Madonna actually contributed the theme song “This Used to Be My Playground” to the film, which was played over the closing credits.

Dick Tracy (1990)
Madonna stars as Breathless Mahoney, a seductive nightclub singer, in this film based on the comic strip detective.
Her performance in the movie, with Warren Beatty playing the title role, is praised for adding a layer of complexity to the character – an entertainer who wants to steal Tracy from his girlfriend.
The film was a success at the box office, hitting number one for two weeks. Madonna had a couple of her songs used in the movie and she later released the soundtrack album, I’m Breathless.
Evita (1996)
Madonna takes on the role of Eva Perón, the First Lady of Argentina, in this musical drama. It is far and above considered her best movie portrayal.
The “Queen of Pop” sought out the role believing she would be perfect for the part. She was right.
Time Magazine noted that Perón and Madonna’s lives were nearly parallel, including the Argentinian leader being a “model for steamy photos, singer on the radio, movie actress of disputed pedigree, sexual adventurer.”
They added that the pop icon had defied viewer expectations in the film.
“Love or hate Madonna-Eva, she is a magnet for all eyes,” they wrote. “You must watch her.”
Her portrayal of the iconic figure earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress.
Truth Or Dare (1991)
Although not a traditional film role, Madonna’s appearance in this documentary about her “Blond Ambition World Tour” is considered one of her most impactful performances.
It provides a candid look at her life and career, influencing the reality TV genre.
The film Truth or Dare earned mostly positive reviews, was considered groundbreaking, and at the time became the highest-grossing documentary in history.
