Food manufacturer House of Thaller is voluntarily recalling three brands of hummus due to potential chemical contamination.

Affected brands include Fresh Foods Market, Marketside, and Lantana, and are sold at major retailers such as Walmart and Target.

The affected products include: Fresh Food Market’s Artisan Hummus – Pine Nuts, Lantana White Bean Hummus with Pine Nut & Herb Topping and Marketside Classic Hummus with Pine Nuts. These items were distributed at stores across the United States between April 18, 2017 to June 13, 2017 and in Canada on April 20, 2017. The UPC numbers, expiration and lot codes of the recall can be found on the United State Food & Drug Administration’s website.

The hummus is potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogene, a bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

If you have purchased any of the affected products, House of Thaller recommends you don’t consume them and contact their customer service center at 855-215-5142 Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM CST.
