A Boston woman was crushed to death in a gruesome elevator accident in her apartment building on Monday. Another resident who witnessed the Boston University lecturer’s death was taken to the hospital as a result of a brutal panic attack after seeing such horror. 

Carrie O’Connor had moved into the apartment building just a few weeks prior to her sudden death. The 38-year-old had been teaching French at colleges in the Boston area since 2014. 

The older style elevator had been inspected this year but that didn’t protect Carrie O’Connor from a horrific death. 

Large Package May Have Tripped Sensor

She was carrying a large package or mattress up to her apartment. Authorities believe that it triggered a sensor which forced the old elevator to fall.

What my wife said she saw was the lady’s arms like hanging onto her package,” building resident Eric Carmichael told the local FOX-TV affiliate of the Monday evening horror that killed French lecturer Carrie O’Connor, 38.

A man who witnessed the accident had to be taken to the hospital for trauma.

“I heard someone that was bringing in a package out in the hallway, and then I heard an ungodly scream,” resident Leanne Scorzoni told the ABC-TV affiliate.

“Then we ran out into the hallway, and we saw a gentleman who was obviously in distress. He was screaming and hyperventilating, saying, ‘She’s dead! She’s dead!’ ”

Scorzini said the man “was helping [O’Connor] with a box into the building, and he was going up the stairs, and he had told her, ‘Hey, just be careful,’ because … you have to pull the door across and then step in and then press the button.” 

Elevator Accident Turns Real Life Horror Movie

An autopsy revealed the French teacher died from “traumatic asphyxiation.”

“So he was walking up the staircase and was just talking to her. And he just said, ‘Oh, I don’t think that’s gonna fit in there.’ And then she’s like, ‘Oh, I’ll try it one more time,'” Leanne Scorzini remembered. 
Then she heard them both screaming. 
“I thought someone had fallen down the staircase. When I looked at the elevator, it was not there,” she said. “Only the ceiling of the car was on my floor, so all the cables were there.”

This real life story feels like something ripped from a horror movie. This family and Dr. O’Connor’s friends could use prayers.
