girl falls six flags ride

Visitors to the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, N.Y. witnessed a terrifying sight Saturday when a 14-year-old girl fell 25 feet from the park’s gondola ride.

Luckily, bystanders noticed her dangling from the gondola and were able to catch her.

The entire incident was caught on video:

As you can see in the video, it looks like the girl’s fall was entirely her own fault and not caused by any malfunction of the ride. On Monday, authorities blamed the fall on “human error”:

Authorities say a 14-year-old girl’s actions caused her to fall from a New York amusement park ride and land in the arms of bystanders.

Warren County sheriff’s Lt. Steven Stockdale tells The Post-Star of Glens Falls that “human error” on the part of the teen caused her to slip under a metal restraining bar on the Sky Ride gondola while riding with her brother Saturday at Six Flags Great Escape.

“It could have been a lot worse than it was,” Stockdale said, adding that the ride was found to be functioning properly.

Who knows what this girl was thinking. What’s important is that she’s alright.
