Many of our military service members have given their lives and limbs to protect this country. They fight for us and help to secure our freedom and liberty. We have beautiful patriots who love our nation and will do everything in their power to help it succeed in returning to be a respectable leader in the world. Here’s Green Beret Ivan Castro’s story:

Green Beret Ivan Castro lost his eyesight while serving in Iraq. Instead of allowing that to shut him down and ending that chapter in his life, he’s meeting challenges head on and inspiring fellow veterans.

Take a look:

From Fox News Insider:

Ivan Castro lost his sight to a mortar attack while serving as a U.S. Army Green Beret in Iraq, but he didn’t let that stop him from returning to active duty and participating in marathons and extreme races around the world.

Castro joined Bill Hemmer on “America’s Newsroom” to discuss how he rose from the darkness of despair to reclaim his soul and his purpose.

“When told, ‘You’re going to be blind for the rest of your life,’ I was trying to find what was my next step, because all my dreams and goals had crumbled,” Castro explained.

He revealed that his wife helped him realize that life would go on, and he just had to pick up the pieces and move forward.

Castro said that he had a wake-up call when he reflected on his fellow soldiers who lost their lives or suffered more debilitating physical or mental injuries.

“I realized that although I had lost my sight, there was still much more that I could do if I put some time and effort into it.”

Castro also got a chance to drive a tank of veterans:

Castro lives every day like his last; his spirit is incredible, and his drive is extraordinary. I am praying for him and his family that they find nothing but happiness and peace for the foreseeable future.
