Police are warning people to be cautious after a Houston man was beaten and held at gunpoint inside his home.
Lawrence Berry opened his door because a man dressed as a UPS driver needed a signature for a delivery. He opened the door and was greeted by the man’s gang of armed men who stormed his house. While he battled the thugs, his wife hid with their four year old twin girls.
Berry was shocked with a taser four times by these thugs. At the hospital, he had 28 staples put in his scalp, stitches in his lip. He also suffered a fractured scalp.
The thieves stole collective firearms and jewelry.
UPS is cooperating with local police to try to figure out how the suspect got the jacket of a full time UPS driver.
The video below is surveillance footage of the fake UPS driver gaining access to the home, quickly followed by his armed cohorts.
Berry spoke about this ordeal with local news reporter in the video below. He fought these men hard to save his wife and daughters. After 6 minutes of hell, sirens scared the thugs away.
Police are warning people not to open the door to sign for a package if you aren’t expecting a package or don’t recognize your regular driver. Most delivery services return multiple times to attempt to deliver your goodies.
Even though we are anxiously awaiting Christmas deliveries, it is better to be safe and cautious than opening the door to someone who may want to harm you.
Please share this to warn your friends and family!
