I love a good basketball game. I’ve seen everything from a fastbreak to a four-corner delay game tactic. I’ve watched players run into the stands and fight a fan or two, and I also watched one of my favorite college basketball players die on the court.

But I’ve never seen anything like this before.

Akil Mitchell of the New Zealand Breakers had a great game. He had 13 points and ten rebounds and was dominating the game when he happened to go up for a rebound. That’s when the trouble started. As he came down, his opponent’s elbow hit his face and Mitchell’s eye came out.

No seriously: It came out!

If you can stand to watch it, make sure you check out the video below:

You could tell it was bad when the grown men started walking away with their hands in the air. I am not sure what I would have done, but hopefully, I would have tried to help out.

Honestly, this is something I could have never imagined seeing but there it is on video! You could tell the point of shock impact when he realized his eye was out. That’s not a natural thing, and nobody should be used to seeing that.

Thankfully, Mitchell is OK now, and he’s cracking jokes on Twitter with the eyeballs in his tweet.

What did you think when you saw him turn over and his eyeball was outside the head? Share your comments below and let me know if you’ve ever seen anything like this before.
