For seventy years, East Liverpool High School commencement included singing The Lord’s Prayer. Then liberals at Wisconsin based Freedom From Religion Foundation got wind of it and felt the need to disrupt graduation plans at the Ohio school. As liberals do, they had to involve themselves and regulate an event they in which they weren’t even participating.

When the school district was faced with a lawsuit, they had no other decision but to drop the prayer from the program. School Board President Larry Walton said, “We said ‘okay, we just won’t do it anymore.’ It was a decision made because we don’t have a lot of money and we’d rather hire teachers than pay lawyers.”

Students weren’t having any of it though. They saw this as part of a tradition and they weren’t about to let it end in their year. When Valedictorian Jonathan Montgomery took the stage for his speech, he shocked all the parents and ticked off some left wingers hundreds of miles away when he led his class in The Lord’s Prayer.

Essentially, Montgomery just changed the placement of the prayer in the agenda. Brilliant! Better yet, there is nothing liberals can do about it since it was not part of the formal schedule of events. As you can see in the video below, the students kept this from everyone. What a terrific surprise!

Bravo! Don’t let those liberals step on your First Amendment rights. These kids seem like they will do well in life as they creatively solved a problem and didn’t back down.

Please share this if you are proud of these students!
