In 2026, Adele plans her acting debut in Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven, swapping her microphone for the big screen.

Back in 2024, Adele wrapped up her Las Vegas residency by saying, “I don’t know when I’m next going to perform again.”

Thankfully, we’re going to be seeing Adele here soon, but in a whole new format. According to Deadline, Adele will be part of a cast that also includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hunter Schafer, Colin Firth, Thandiwe Newton, and Pedro Pascal’s sister, Lux Pascal.

Ford, who launched his fashion brand after serving as creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, made his directorial debut with 2009’s Oscar-nominated A Single Man. His second film, Nocturnal Animals (2016), won the grand jury prize at Venice and earned a supporting actor Oscar nomination for Michael Shannon.

Now, fashion mogul Ford will be directing, producing, and writing his third film, which is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel that shares the same name, Cry to Heaven. The fictional story follows two men, a Venetian noble and a castrated opera singer, and is set in 18th-century Italy. The film is currently in pre-production in London and Rome.

According to Deadline, the new movie should begin filming in January and is aiming for a fall 2026 release.

For Adele fans everywhere, this might come as shocking news. Before the announcement that Adele would be part of this star-studded cast, Adele told her fans that she was taking a break. This announcement was made in the summer of 2024 during a handful of shows in Germany. The singer said, “I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break.”

While Adele has a relatively low profile given her amazing career, most known for her hits, including Hello (2015), Set Fire to the Rain (2011), Rolling in the Deep (2011), and Someone Like You (2011).

But while the singer mentioned that she would be taking a break from music for an indefinite time, after successfully running 100 concerts at Caesars Palace, it looks like she’s not done exploring her creativity with this new adventure.

We can not wait to see Adele in her movie debut, and hope to see more from her in the future. Want the inside scoop on your favorite actors, musicians, and celebrities? Then keep checking back here for everything you need to know.
