The upcoming sequel to 28 Years Later just got another update along with it’s trailer. The post-apocalyptic horror film was shot back-to-back with it’s predecessor, and will serve as the fourth installment to the franchise as a whole. Here’s a look at the 28 Years Later: Bone Temple first images.

The movie is set to debut in theaters on January 16, 2026, and is directed by Nia DaCosta, focusing on the cast including Alfie Williams as Spike, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Jamie, Ralph Fiennes as Dr Ian Kelson, and Jack O’Connell as Sir Jimmy Crystal, alongside Cillian Murphy as his original 28 Days Later character, Jim.

After the first trailer release, fans also got a look at the first images that dropped for the movie. Bone Temple will follow on from the events of the previous film, which grossed an outstanding $150.4 million worldwide.

28 Years Later: Bone Temple first images include Ralph Fiennes’ Dr. Kelson walking towards the camera, Jack O’Connell’s Sir Jimmy Crystal standing among his followers, and Chi Lewis-Parry as Alpha rage virus-carrier Samson in a river.

Director DaCosta revealed how she wanted to separate Bone Temple from it’s predecessors, saying “My big pitch when I was talking to the producers, including Danny and Alex, before I came on was, ‘I’m going to make this my own. I’m not going to try to make a Danny Boyle movie.’ Because that’s impossible to make.”

O’Connell also offers his input on Bone Temple, calling the upcoming film “the weird, deranged cousin to 28 Years Later.” He also teases how he doesn’t “think the infected are purely antagonists in our filmIt definitely will make you consider that,” before adding that his character goes on “a journey of twisted gaiety.”
