Best known for his roles in Killers of the Flower Moon, Samuel French dies at age 45 on Friday, May 9 in Waco, Texas.

The news was confirmed on Instagram by Paul Sinacore, a film producer who worked with the actor on the upcoming movie Towpath. In his post, Sinacore wrote that French was a “magnetic actor [who was] celebrated for his explosive performances and uncompromising dedicated to his craft.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor had been diagnosed with cancer, which unfortunately spread through his body.
Prior to his death, Samuel filmed Towpath, where he played a detective who investigates a murder in a small town during the civil rights movement.

Before that, French starred in a handful of films and movies. His most notable role was in Killers of the Flower Moon, portraying CJ Robinson, an undercover agent involved in investigating the Osage murders in the 1920s.
He also appeared as Ben in season 6 of Fear the Walking Dead. Although, first role was in TV shows like Texas Rising, a miniseries based on the Texas Revolution against Mexico and how the Texas Rangers were created, which starred Bill Paxton, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Brendan Fraser. He also was featured in Mark of a Killer, which was an American true crime series that examined disturbing behaviors of serial killers.
French’s final post on Instagram saw him celebrating his win for best supporting actor at the 2025 Cowpokes International Film Festival for his role as Cyrus in Monsters Within.
Sinacore confirmed that French’s funeral service will take place Friday, May 16th in Valley Mills, Texas.
