There’s a growing trend in Hollywood and beyond that is seeing celebrities worth millions of dollars who are deciding not to leave their fortunes to their children.
These celebrities are deciding to not leave their wealth to their kids for a variety of reasons. Scroll through this list and find out why!
Daniel Craig
After playing James Bond for years, Craig has an estimated net worth of $160 million. He is the father of two children and the stepfather to his actress wife Rachel Weisz’s son from a previous relationship.
Unfortunately for them, however, it doesn’t seem like they’ll be seeing much of this fortune.
“I don’t want to leave great sums to the next generation,” Craig previously said, according to US Weekly. “My philosophy is get rid of it or give it away before you go.”
In another interview, Craig described inheritances as being “distasteful.”
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton Kutcher of That’s 70s Show fame has an estimated net worth of $200 million. He shares a daughter and a son with his actress wife Mila Kunis.
In 2019, however, Kutcher surprised many by revealing that he won’t be leaving his wealth to his kids. Instead, he and Kunis have other plans for their money.
“I’m not setting up a trust for them,” Kutcher explained. “We’ll end up giving our money away to charity and to various things.”
Kutcher went on to say that his children are living a “really privileged life,” and that should be enough for them.
Guy Fieri
The American restauranteur and Food Network host Guy Fieri has an estimated net worth of $100 million. He also shares two sons with his wife Lori.
“I’ve told them the same thing my dad told me,” Fieri said back in December. “My dad says, ‘When I die, you can expect that I’m going to die broke, and you’re going to be paying for the funeral.'”
Fieri went on to explain to his sons that they won’t be getting anything that he’s built over the years unless they come and take it from him. Instead, he wants them to make their own ways in life!
Marie Osmond
The singer and television personality Marie Osmond has an estimated net worth of $20 million. Osmond is a mother of eight children, one of whom sadly died in 2010.
In 2020, Osmond shocked her fans by revealing that she is “not leaving any money to my children.”
Osmond went on to say that she believes leaving a fortune to one’s children is doing them a “disservice” because it takes away their “ability to work.” Instead, she will be giving her money to charity.
Osmond doubled down on this last year, saying that an inheritance breeds “laziness and entitlement.”
“I worked hard and I’m gonna spend it all and have fun with my husband!” she said with a laugh.

Jeff Goldblum
The former Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum has an estimated net worth of $40 million. He also shares two young sons Charlie and River with his wife Emilie Livingston.
When it comes to his sons’ futures, however, Goldblum isn’t planning to support them financially because “you’ve got to row your own boat.”
“It’s an important thing to teach kids,” he explained. “I’m not going to do it for you. And you’re not going to want me to do it for you.”
Goldblum went on to talk about the importance of finding one’s own way in life. That’s why when it comes to money, his sons will be on their own!
Don McLean
The “American Pie” singer Don McLean has an estimated net worth of $50 million, and he’s the father of two children. One of these children, however, has managed to talk her way out of her inheritance.
“I stopped supporting my daughter last year,” McLean told the Daily Mail in 2021.
This came after his daughter Jackie claimed that she grew up in a “constant state of fear.”
McLean had told her that if she ever spoke negatively publicly, he would disinherit her, and he was quick to follow through with this.
“She’s been automatically disinherited — that’s almost a $3 million trust fund that went down the tubes,” he said.
Now that has got to hurt!
Anderson Cooper
The CNN host Anderson Cooper has an estimated net worth of $50 million, and he is the father of a 2 year-old son. He’s also a descendent of the extremely wealth Vanderbilt family, but he has no intention of leaving money to his child.
“I don’t believe in passing on huge amounts of money,” Cooper said on the “Morning Meeting” podcast.
Cooper went on to say that his parents told him that they would pay for his college education, but he was on his own after that. He plans to implement this same strategy with his own son.
“I’m not that interested in money,” he explained.
Sting
The rock legend Sting has an estimated net worth of $550 million, and he’s the father of six children.
“I certainly don’t want to leave them trust funds that are albatrosses round their necks,” the Police frontman said in 2014. “They have to work.”
Sting added that because his children have known this all their lives, “they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate.”
Sting feels that he had to work hard to get where he is today, and he wants his children to do the same thing. They likely turned out to be better people in the end because of this!

Gordon Ramsay
The celebrity chef and restauranteur Gordon Ramsay has an estimated net worth of $220 million, and he is a proud father of five children. He decided long ago not to leave his fortune to them, however.
“[My money is] definitely not going to them, and that’s not in a mean way,” Ramsay said in 2021. “It’s to not spoil them.”
When Ramsay and his family travel, he and his wife fly in first class while their children fly economy. At home, the children do chores. Ramsay also refuses to hire any of them in his business ventures so that they don’t benefit from nepotism.
In the end, all of this is meant to keep Ramsay’s children humble. Judging by his tough parenting style, it’s likely working!
Gene Simmons
The legendary KISS frontman Gene Simmons has an estimated net worth of $400 million, and he’s the father of two children. Like everyone else on this list, however, Simmons isn’t leaving them his fortune.
“They will never be rich off my money,” Simmons said in 2007. “Because every year they should be forced to get up out of bed and go out and work and make their own way.”
Simmons wants to see his children make their money in life, not live off his success. In the end, he believes it will benefit his children in the long run to have their own lucrative careers.
“I don’t want them to say, ‘Thanks, dad, for making me rich,'” he added. “No, you wanna be able to stand on your own two feet and say, ‘I did that.'”
Can’t argue with that. Rock on, KISS!
