Jeremy Renner, star of the Avengers movies and Hawkeye series, spoke about his severe snowplow accident on New Year’s Day in 2023 with Jimmy Fallon.
The details of which were even more troubling.
Renner, in an appearance on The Tonight Show that practically constitutes a miracle in and of itself, revealed harrowing nuggets of what happened that fateful day.
He explained that his main priority after having a massive plow run over him was simply breathing. He noted that such a devastating injury and incident provides perspective.
He said it served as a “great reminder of what we all should be looking at in life.”
“If we get too stressed or if things get too difficult or if it’s insurmountable odds or whatever it might be,” he said. “Just put one foot down and then put another foot down and then move towards it, right?”
Triumph over tragedy.
Here’s What Happened
Renner, as many know by now, was trying to prevent his snow-removal tractor from sliding towards his nephew.
The incident left him with more than 30 broken bones and critical injuries. Renner underwent multiple surgeries and spent time in the ICU before beginning a long recovery process.
During his appearance on The Tonight Show, he added a funny anecdote about something Fallon did in the immediate aftermath of the accident.
Fallon, it seems, texted the Mayor of Kingstown star, “Dude, you’re trending.”
“No, I’m dying,” Renner quipped.
In an interview earlier this year, the actor explained that healing from the accident became a goal as a means to help his family get through the trauma.
“There was a lot for me to fight for, and recovery was just a one-way road in my mind,” he stated. “My recovery became relief for me, because I knew I could give relief to my family, my daughter, and all those that I really affected.”
It says something about a man’s character when he faces his mortality and ultimately laments what it will do to his loved ones instead.

Even Worse Details Of The Renner Accident
Renner told Fallon some more wild details about the accident that nearly robbed the world of an incredible actor and human being.
And we have to warn you – if you have a weak stomach, don’t go further.
…
It has been revealed that Renner’s eye popped out due to the horrific ordeal.
“It’s like, you see your eye with your other eye because my eyeball was out,” Renner said. “So you have weird things that go through your head like, ‘Well, I guess that’s real, but like I’ll worry about that later.'”
It was an accident that sometimes provides clarity to fans that actors are simply human beings.
Renner, known in the movie world as a superhero, took on the role of a real-life superhero, almost getting himself killed by saving his nephew from a sliding 14,330-pound snowplow.
Unlike the movies, however, there was no quick healing. No superpowers to bring him back. Just emergency responders, a vast medical team, and the will and determination of this one man.
