The Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot revealed that she received a “terrifying” life-threatening diagnosis during her pregnancy earlier this year.
Gadot’s Devastating Diagnosis
Gadot, 39, took to Instagram on Sunday to reflect on the difficult 2024 that she’s had. It was here that she revealed that she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” in her brain – during her eighth month of pregnancy, no less.
“For weeks, I had endured excruciating headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the terrifying truth,” Gadot wrote. “In one moment, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted was to hold on and live.”
Gadot was immediately rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. There, she gave birth to her daughter Ori during the procedure in March. The birth went well, and Ori is thankfully now a healthy 9 month-old baby.
“Her name, meaning ‘my light,’ wasn’t chosen by chance,” Gadot wrote of her daughter. “Before the surgery, I told [my husband] Jaron that when our daughter arrived, she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

Gadot Is ‘Fully Healed’
Gadot has since recovered and is now “fully healed” thanks to her “extraordinary team of doctors.”
“Pain, discomfort or even subtle changes often carry a deeper meaning, and being attuned to your body can be life saving,” she continued. “I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women in the 30s+ age group are diagnosed with CVT (develop a blood clot in the brain). It’s so important to identify early because it’s treatable. While rare, it’s a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step to addressing it.”
Gadot wants to make it clear that she doesn’t want to “frighten anyone” by sharing her story. Instead, she’s hoping that it will “empower” others.
“If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will have been worth sharing,” she concluded. In the end, Gadot hopes that her story “back the curtain on the fragile reality behind the curated moments we share on social media.”

Gadot Kept Her Diagnosis Hidden
When Gadot announced Ori’s birth back in March, she didn’t let on to fans about her own life-threatening situation,
“My sweet girl, welcome,” Gadot captioned an Instagram photo of herself holding Ori in a hospital bed at the time. “The pregnancy was not easy and we made it through.”
Gadot has been married to movie producer Jaron Varsano. They are also parents to Alma, 13, Maya, 7, and Daniella, 3.
Born in Israel in 1985, Gadot is known for playing Wonder Woman in the Marvel universe. She has also had roles in Hollywood movies like Red Notice and Death On The Nile.
Gadot’s story serves as a reminder that you never really know what someone is going through behind the scenes. Please join us in saying a prayer for Gadot’s good health moving forward!
