Whoopi Goldberg was forced to backtrack on comments she made on her ABC talk show The View on Monday. This came after she suggested that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were “violent criminals.”

Goldberg’s Anti-ICE Meltdown

Goldberg, 70, kicked off Monday’s show by bizarrely appearing to address President Donald Trump rhetorically.

“Nobody wants this. This is not what you said they were going to be — this is the thing, you said you were going after the bad guys,” Goldberg said. “That’s what you said, the violent criminals. And what does it turn out? The violent criminals seem to be in the agency.”

When the show returned from the next commercial break, however, Goldberg attempted to walk back these remarks.

“Before folks gather around and say, ‘Oh! She’s accusing all of the folks at ICE of being criminals!’ That is not what I’m doing,” Goldberg said. “And just so I’m clear, it feels sometimes that there is no one watching the hen house. OK? So before y’all start blowing it into all kinds of other stuff, just know that it’s nuanced speaking.”

“I think you meant the lack of accountability, because you’ve had nine shootings by ICE agents against various people,” her co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in to add. “We haven’t heard much reporting on it, and no one has been held accountable, and we don’t know the status of the investigation. So that does feel like there is a lack of accountability and transparency.”

“You are very kind, and I appreciate that,” Goldberg responded.

Anti-ICE Protests

Goldberg’s latest anti-ICE meltdown came in response to the mother of three Renee Nicole Good being fatally shot by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, Minnesota last week. Video footage has since shown that Good swerved her car at the agent before he opened fire. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has since described the agent firing his weapon as being an act of “self-defense.”

Despite this, protests have erupted all over the country over Good’s death.

“You see ‘Abolish ICE’ now,” Hostin said before Goldberg’s anti-ICE meltdown. “That was a lefty thing before. Everyone was saying, ‘Abolish ICE, you should never say that, you should never say that.’”

“I think people — red states, blue states — these are the United States of America and people don’t want to see murder — killing in the streets,” Hostin added.

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously worked in the previous Trump administration before joining The View, claimed that, “Nobody signed up for this. Nobody said this is what we wanted.”

Goldberg Backtracks Again

The next day, on Tuesday’s show, Goldberg appeared to try and backtrack once again by defending some ICE agents.

“Know your rights. But, also, check out and find out what their rights are,” Goldberg advised. “Let us be very clear. Not all ICE agents are out of control. Not all of them. Some of them actually do know what they’re doing, and they’re having a hard time because they don’t recognize the agency they’ve worked for for years. So, there’s a lot going on.”

Goldberg went on to say that while Americans have a right to protest, “You don’t have the right to be a bonehead. You can’t spit on people. People don’t like it. But, you do have the right to say we don’t like what we see. We’re going to protest.”

“And know, if they come up on you, the ACLU is saying, listen, think carefully about what you say, keep your hands where the officers can see them, don’t run or touch an officer, write down everything you remember about an incident as quick as you can, or try to find a witness and get their names and phone numbers,” Goldberg concluded. “They don’t really do that now because people have phones. So, you know everyone is watching. Keep yourself safe, keep them safe, protest all you want to, don’t get yourself in a trick bag.”

Goldberg Allegedly On Thin Ice At ABC

Goldberg has allegedly been on thin ice at ABC as of late. Back in October, an insider claimed that ABC executives are so fed up with Goldberg’s nonsense that they are “looking hard at a refresh — maybe even a total overhaul” of The View’s panel.

“Executives are tired of cleaning up her messes,” the insider alleged. “Patience is running out.”

Perhaps Goldberg can see the writing on the wall, and that’s why she was so willing to backtrack on her latest unhinged attack on ICE.

Goldberg is a loose cannon, and there’s no telling what will ever come out of her mouth. Only time will tell how much longer ABC decides it’s worth keeping her around.

Good riddance, Whoopi Goldberg!
