Whoopi Goldberg put her foot in her mouth once again on Thursday morning’s episode of the ABC talk show The View. This time, she effectively admitted that she’s a nightmare to work for as she bent over backwards to defend a Democrat politician.
It started when the women of The View were discussing whether former state Rep. Katie Porter, a Democrat, should continue running for governor of California. This comes as Porter is facing massive backlash for mistreating her staff.
Goldberg, 70, was quick to defend Porter, admitting that she too has yelled at her staffers. In making this admission, Goldberg inadvertently exposed herself for who she truly is.
Goldberg’s Disturbing Admission
After playing a clip in which Porter addressed the backlash about her “temperament” during the recent gubernatorial debate, Goldberg quipped, “Maybe she does yell at people. I yell at people, you yell at people, you yell at people, and sometimes it’s not nice.”
Yikes, Whoopi!
Even Goldberg’s radically liberal co-host Joy Behar, 83, was uncomfortable with this admission.
“I only yell at my husband,” she replied.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, 36, chimed in to say that “there’s no question” women are “held to a different standard in the public sphere.” However, unlike Goldberg, she did not support Porter’s behavior. In fact, Griffin seemingly chided Goldberg by pointing out that the way someone treats their staffers speaks volumes about their character.
“I think how somebody treats staff under them says so much about their character,” Griffin told Goldberg. “We saw the video. She berated a staffer in a way I’ve, never in any job in politics, been talked to.”

Goldberg Doubles Down
Goldberg, however, didn’t back down. Instead, she attempted to defend verbally attacking the people who work for her, making herself look even worse in the process.
“You get caught in the moment and, you know, everybody’s got a camera,” Goldberg insisted. “I’m sorry, I have yelled at people who work for me, I have yelled at people.”
Griffin fired back by saying that she’s “never seen you treat somebody like.” Goldberg responded to this by saying that she only yells at her own staffers behind closed doors.
As if that makes this any better…
“The reason you don’t see it is because I’m very careful when I yell at people,” Goldberg said. She added that she “used to get really angry with people” who goaded her or were “messing” with her.
“I used to get it all the time,” Goldberg stated. “I’m not mad at anybody who steps in poo. I’m not.”
Jeez, remind me never to apply for a job working under Goldberg!
Goldberg Ends Her Rant
Goldberg proceeded to end her disturbing rant by defending Porter once again.
“All I know is, as a human being, I’m subject to the same things she’s subject to. I’m subject to screwing up and messing up and being not the person people want me to be,” Goldberg confessed. “But, if I’m the right person to run that state and I know what I’m doing, I want you to say, ‘Hey, listen I want you to be better but I want you to run the state.’”
Would you give the same grace to a conservative woman, Whoopi? I don’t think so.
After saying that she has “a lot of faith,” Goldberg concluded by quipping, “Anyway, we live in New York, so what do we care?”

Ellen DeGeneres ‘Canceled’ For Mistreating Staffers
Now is not the time when a public figure wants to be admitting to verbally abusing staffers. After all, the comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who Goldberg has known for decades, was famously canceled for doing just that.
Indeed, DeGeneres’ career was destroyed over her toxic workplace scandal after staffers spoke out to expose her. They claimed that on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, DeGeneres presided over a set that was full of bullying. This was particularly bad for DeGeneres, who ended every episode of her talk show by telling her audience to “be kind” to one another.
DeGeneres’ talk show ended one year after the scandal came to life. She’s even said herself that she was “kicked out of show business” over the scandal stemming from her alleged mistreatment of staffers. DeGeneres has since fled the country and moved to England.
Perhaps Goldberg’s admission today will inspire her current and former staffers to speak out about her alleged mistreatment of them. Should that happen, things could quickly get dicey for Goldberg in the same way that it did for her buddy DeGeneres.
Whether Goldberg is hit with backlash for this or not, she’s still shown the world exactly what kind of person she is by admitting to yelling at her staffers. In the end, Griffin is right that the way someone treats the people who work for them says everything about their character.
Shame on you, Whoopi Goldberg.
