Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest have been hosting Wheel of Fortune together since September. Seacrest took over hosting in the fall after Pat Sajak retired in June of last year. Prior to that, Sajak had hosted Wheel of Fortune for 43 years.
Now, White and Seacrest are opening up about what it’s really like to work together.
Seacrest Loves Working With White
Seacrest, 50, had nothing but nice things to say about White, 68.
“This is who we really are. We’re not playing a role,” Seacrest explained. “It’s been seamless working with Vanna. She is as everyone would expect her to be, lovely in every moment of the day. But, I think having known her for a long time made it more comfortable for me to come in.”
White and Seacrest film six episodes of Wheel of Fortune each day that they work. They have only fifteen minutes between each episode.
“I’d like nine, but yes it’s 15,” Seacrest confessed.
“He tries to make it nine,” White chimed in to add.
“‘Come on! Come on, V-dubs. Aren’t you dressed yet?” she mocked as Seacrest laughed and nodded.
White concluded by saying that she’s proud that Wheel of Fortune still brings families together. She also believes that part of the reason behind the game show’s longevity is that fans can play along at home.
White Was ‘Scared’ To Co-Host With Seacrest
Back in September, White admitted to being “scared” to co-host Wheel of Fortune with Seacrest after working with Sajak for so many years. Once Seacrest actually took over as host, however, White quickly realized that she had nothing to worry about.
“I think our chemistry is good,” White told People Magazine at the time.. “I had no idea what to expect when I’m used to one person for so long….I was very scared but he’s doing a great job.”
White went on to gush over Seacrest, saying that “he was a great choice” for the game show.
“He’s professional, he’s kind, he’s hard-working,” White continued. “We’ve known each other for 20 years, so I think he’s a good fit.”
Oddly enough, it seems that White and Seacrest teaming up as co-hosts may have been written in the stars!
“Oddly enough, Merv Griffin, who is the creator of Wheel of Fortune, who chose me — God bless you, Merv — Ryan Seacrest was also one of Merv’s people that he [discovered],” White recalled. “We actually sat next to each other at Merv’s Funeral. That’s where we met.”

White Admits It Was ‘Sad’ To See Sajak Go
Last month, White admitted that it was “sad” for her to see Sajak leave Wheel of Fortune.
“It was sad for me in a way because [at the time] I didn’t know what the future held,” White confessed. “It was ending an unbelievable era!”
Despite this, White and Sajak have remained in close contact in the wake of his retirement.
“I still see him!” White gushed. “We’re friends. We have dinner! Yeah, he’s still in my life.”
White went on to say that whenever she reunites with Sajak, whether it’s at work or in their personal lives, it’s like no time has gone by.
“It’s like slipping into something very comfortable,” White explained. “I mean that in the best possible way. It’s just comfortable.”
While we miss Sajak on Wheel of Fortune dearly, Seacrest really has done a great job taking over as host. We’re glad that behind the scenes, White and Seacrest get along so well. Here’s hoping that they’re both hosting Wheel of Fortune together for many years to come!
