The Hollywood star Valerie Bertinelli of One Day At A Time fame suffered a major injury after she fell offstage while working on a new project.

Bertinelli Reveals Major Injury

“I would ask for hazard pay, but it was my own damn fault,” Bertinelli, 64, wrote on Instagram alongside a photo in which she displayed her wound.

“I’ve been working on a really fun new project that I can’t wait to tell you about and this is what happens when you literally trip over the corner of a stage and fall on your ass in front of the crew,” she continued. “And the whole audience.”

“When you’re me. Because I’m a klutz,” Bertinelli concluded. “And embarrassing myself is my bailiwick.”

Klutz seems like an understatement – look at this gash!

Bertinelli’s Fresh Start

Bertinelli’s “new project” comes after she gave herself a fresh start back in July. Indeed, she chose to become sober, cutting alcohol out of her life completely.

“I’ve always been really good at beating myself up about my past and how I could’ve done better. I became a master at judging myself. Judge, jury, and executioner,” she said at the time. “I don’t wanna do that anymore. I want to lead a full authentic life, with my heart open to experiencing everything. No more judging. Accepting who I am, flaws and all. What makes me, me.”

Bertinelli went on to say that bad habits like drinking and binge-eating “can prevent us from opening our hearts fully.”

Anyone who suffers from overindulgence can surely agree.

“I think we’ve built a really lovely community here and I love when you all talk amongst yourselves, the last post being a great example of everyone sharing their journey,” she gushed. “It’s been inspiring. When we work together and share our stories, we can lift each other up. Let’s keep inspiring each other.”

Bertinelli’s New Gig

Last month, Bertinelli announced that she will be joining The Drew Barrymore Show as a regular lifestyle expert.

“I’m going to be a part of The Drew Barrymore Show. I’m going to be part of Drew Crew, and I’m super excited about that,” Bertinelli told People Magazine at the time.

“I absolutely adore her,” she said of Barrymore, 49. “And all the people that work there are so flippin’ cool.”

Bertinelli has been married and divorced twice. She was first married to the late Van Halen frontman Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until 2007. She was then married to the financial planner Tom Vitale from 2011 until 2022.

When asked recently if she could see herself marrying for a third time, Bertinelli replied, “Well, I’ve been married twice and that shame thing just slapped me in the face.”

“I think the key to feeling beautiful and feeling like you’re worthy and feeling like you are enough is to release a lot of that shame,” she continued. “There is a lot of good shame but there also is bad shame that will keep you in self loathing and that’s what I’m working on right now.”

Earlier this year, Bertinelli revealed that she is dating the writer Mike Goodnough.

“I’m in love,” she told PEOPLE back in April. “It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again.”

While it appears that Bertinelli’s personal life is going well, this on-set injury seems like a painful one. Please join us in saying a prayer for her recovery!
