We previously reported that the Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30, citing “irreconcilable differences” at the time. Now, their divorce has taken yet another shocking turn. Indeed, insiders are alleging that Urban now “regrets” splitting from Kidman, as he feels like he lost “his greatest supporter” in her.
Urban Questions If He ‘Made A Huge Mistake’
Those close to Urban are claiming that he’s “wondering if he’s made a huge mistake” in initiating his breakup with Kidman.
“He’s got to pay the bills – and divorce lawyers don’t come cheap,” one source alleged.
Urban has reportedly been paying the private school tuition for his and Kidman’s two daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. In the wake of this, he’s been left feeling a bit strapped for cash, according to his friends.
“It’s a lonely existence for Keith right now,” the insider explained. “He’s exhausted, isolated and looking at a future he never imagined.”
“He’s also lost his best friend, Nicole, who was also his greatest supporter in life and he’s wondering if he’s made a huge mistake,” the source continued.
Urban Credits Kidman With His Sobriety
Urban had long credited Kidman with helping him get sober after struggling with both alcoholism and cocaine addiction for many years. In fact, just last year, he was publicly praising Kidman with helping him stay sober for nearly twenty years.
“We got married in June 2006 and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions … that I’d done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens,” Urban said in June of 2024. At the time, he was giving a speech in Kidman’s honor at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala.
“Four months into a marriage, I’m in rehab for three months. I had no idea what was going to happen to us … and if you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl,” he continued. “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own and she chose love. And here we are tonight, 18 years later.”
Kidman was visibly emotional during the speech, as she could be seen wiping away tears.
“That’s the thing about Nic … she loves life. I’ve actually never met anyone who has such a passion for being alive. She knows the importance of expressing feelings, as well,” he gushed. “I wasn’t raised like this at all, so our girls are very lucky to be learning from you, baby. I’m learning, too.”
“I know tonight’s all about her body of work so far … but next year, we’ll be 20 years that I’ve been madly in love with you,” Urban concluded. “Congratulations, baby girl. I love you.”
Urban And Kidman Separate 1 Year Later
Sadly, it appears that their marriage soon took a turn for the worse. By June of 2025, one year after this speech, Urban had initiated a separation and moved out of the family home. Kidman then spent the summer desperately trying to save their marriage. When her efforts failed, she finally gave in and filed for divorce on September 30.
“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
Divorce is never easy, particularly after so many years together. If Urban is having second thoughts, and Kidman never wanted this split to begin with, it will certainly be interesting to see if they can work things out!
