Earlier this month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage.” They also alleged that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.
Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 58. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”
Rumors quickly spread that this mysterious “new girlfriend” was Urban’s 25 year-old guitarist Maggie Baugh. Now, a friend Baugh’s is attempting to put these rumors to rest.
Maggie Baugh’s Friend Defends Her
The country music singer Alexandra Kay has been friends with Baugh for many years. According to Kay, Baugh isn’t dating Urban. In fact, Baugh reportedly already has a boyfriend of her own.
“Honestly, I was heartbroken for them because the media scrutiny is insane and the things that people say,” Kay, 34, told Taste of Country. “They’re like, stirring up rumors about Maggie Baugh, and I’m like, ‘She’s a good friend of mine and I know that’s absolutely not true.'”
“I’ve met her boyfriend, and she’s very happy,” Kay continued. “She has nothing to do with that whole [Urban and Kidman] relationship.”
Kay went on to say that she finds this entire situation to be “sad.”
“I feel sad for everybody involved that people are doing that and picking apart their personal life,” she concluded. “I pray for peace for them and for everybody to have their privacy.”
Urban And Baugh Rumors
Kidman filed for divorce from Urban on September 30. Court documents obtained by Fox News show that she cited “irreconcilable differences” and ongoing “marital difficulties.”
Afterwards, it was rumored that Urban has started dating a “younger woman” in the music industry.
“The rumor is that he’s with a younger woman in the business,” a well-placed Nashville music insider told Daily Mail. “It’s all everyone is talking about. Everyone wants to know who, but so far, that’s a mystery.“
Rumors quickly spread that this alleged “younger woman” was Baugh. These rumors escalated in a big way when video went viral of Urban changing the lyrics to his song “The Fighter,” which was inspired by Kidman.
The original lyrics state, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter.” Instead, Urban sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player.”
Baugh herself posted the video to Intagram on September 26 along with the caption, “Did he just say that👀.” Four days later, Kidman filed for divorce.

Kidman ‘Feels Betrayed’
As for Kidman, she was reportedly “blindsided” by all of this. Indeed, Kidman allegedly spent the summer desperately trying to save her marriage after she and Urban secretly separated in June.
“She didn’t want this,” an insider close to Kidman told People Magazine. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”
“Nicole’s hurt and feels betrayed,” another Kidman source added. “She wanted to save their marriage and believed that she could, but it seems he’s already moved on.”
Urban has yet to publicly address the claims that he’s moved on with a “younger woman.” It will certainly be interesting to see where all of this goes from here!
