We previously reported that the radically liberal comedians Kathy Griffin and Ellen DeGeneres were engaged in a bitter feud with one another. Now, Griffin is escalating this feud in a big way. This comes after DeGeneres fled the country and moved to England after Donald Trump won his second presidential election last year.
Griffin And DeGeneres ‘Have A Beef…’
While being interviewed on “The Zack Sang Show” podcast, Griffin made a point of discussing her decades-long feud with DeGeneres.
“We have a beef. At least in my mind, we do. I don’t think she cares, she doesn’t give a [expletive] about me,” said Griffin, 65. “But I just love giving Ellen [expletive] because it never gets old. She just can’t stand it.”
Not stopping there, Griffin went on to claim that DeGeneres, 67, has “no sense of humor about herself.” She then alleged that she and DeGeneres once got into a “knockdown drag-out” fight over the phone about the late Joan Rivers’ legacy in comedy.
“Both with our cellphones and assistants screaming at each other,” Griffin recalled. “She thought Joan Rivers was not funny, but Joan was just mean. And I think Joan was not only not mean, but a genius, but also that Ellen kind of owed part of her career to the fact that Joan was the first woman to have a talk show.”
Griffin proceeded to explain that she enjoys throwing shade at DeGeneres simply because she “just gets a kick out of it.”
“I just make fun of Ellen because she doesn’t take it well … I just like poking her a little bit,” Griffin added. “I’m just starting [expletive] with Ellen just to start [expletive] with Ellen. She has nothing else going on, it’s fun for me. I enjoy it. You know, it’s a victimless crime. Once again, she’s counting her money all the way around the world.”
Watch DeGeneres talk more about this in the video below.
Origins Of Griffin And DeGeneres’ Feud
Griffin and DeGeneres’ feud dates all the way back to the 1990s. It all started when Griffin guest-starred on DeGeneres’ 1990s sitcom Ellen.
When DeGeneres showed up for the table read, she immediately recognized Griffin from a commercial she’d done for Kenmore Stereos. The ad featured Griffin bluntly reciting the lyrics to Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” in a deadpan way.

At the table read, DeGeneres allegedly demanded that Griffin recite the lyrics again, much to her dismay and embarrassment.
“It was just off. It wasn’t said with, like, a fun spirit,” Griffin recalled. “If that was me and I was the star of the show, I just wouldn’t do that to somebody who’s like the day player. I felt like she was saying ‘dance, [expletive], dance.”
Griffin eventually gave in and recited the lyrics. The joke, however, didn’t land in that environment.
“You could hear a pin drop because I felt like the rest of the room was just going, ‘I don’t get what’s so special about this,’” she said. “[Ellen] then also kind of looked at me like, ‘what are you doing?’”
“If you know her, that is like who she is,” Griffin added of DeGeneres. “She never was friendly after that. It was just rough.”
Griffin Has ‘A Loathing’ For DeGeneres
Earlier this year, Griffin admitted that her feud with DeGeneres is still going strong.
“I have a loathing for her that is epic,” Griffin admitted of DeGeneres. “I know a lot of it is jealousy, I get it. She’s way more successful than I’ll ever be.”
“You’re welcome, Ellen,” Griffin concluded. “That’s way nicer than anything you’ve ever said about me or ever will.”
As for DeGeneres, she appears to have stayed quiet about her alleged feud with Griffin.
We must say that it’s somewhat surprising that Griffin and DeGeneres’ mutual obsessive hatred for President Trump couldn’t bring them together. Only time will tell if these two bitter radical liberals can ever put this feud behind them, but the chances are not looking good!
