The Hollywood star Tim Allen of Home Improvement and Last Man Standing fame appeared on the ABC talk show The View on Monday morning to promote season two of his sitcom Shifting Gears. There, he shared a bizarre moment with co-host Whoopi Goldberg involving lipstick!

Allen’s Lipstick Debacle

Halfway through the live segment, Goldberg, 69, informed Allen, 72, that he had lipstick on the right side of his face. Indeed, Goldberg also quickly admitted that she was to blame for this minor mishap.

“I just realized. I was thinking, ‘What’s is that…'” Goldberg said as she pointed to her own face in an attempt to alert Allen of the lipstick stain. “It’s me. You have a streak of lipstick on the side of your face.”

Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts couldn’t help but burst out laughing. Allen, however, didn’t join in the laughter. Instead, he called Goldberg out.

“What the!” he exclaimed jokingly. “Well, you just tell me that now?”

Goldberg’s co-host Ana Navarro chimed in to say that she “couldn’t figure out what it was” as she sat directly next to Allen during the segment.

“I didn’t realize if it was the jacket rubbing off on you or…” Navarro said as she tried to wipe Allen’s face with a tissue.

“Why didn’t you say something to me?!” Allen asked her.

“I just did!” Goldberg fired back.

“But now it’s half over though,” Allen said humorously. He ended by joking that “all of America thinks I got leprosy or something!”

Home Improvement Reunion

During this same appearance on The View, Allen discussed the second season of his hit sitcom Shifting Gears. He even teased an upcoming reunion on the show with his former Home Improvement co-stars Patricia RichardsonRichard Karn and Debbe Dunning in the season two premiere.

Home Improvement became my family,” he gushed. “When I left the show, I was depressed like I lost my family.”

In Shifting Gears, Allen plays a widower who recently lost his wife to a heart attack. His character Matt, who owns a car restoration shop, is having trouble moving on from her death. That’s why Charlotte (played by Nancy Travis, Allen’s onscreen wife for 9 seasons on “Last Man Standing”) suggests a grief group. There, he ends up meeting characters played by Richardson, Karn and Dunning. Needless to say, hilarity quickly ensues!

“It seemed to be a nice metaphor, and it was just ridiculously funny,” Allen told USA Today earlier this week.

Allen Still Close To Former Co-Stars

Allen went on to say that he still sees Karn often. He also runs into Dunning at golf tournaments. Richardson, “I don’t see as much,” he explained. Despite this, Allen still greatly enjoyed working with all three again.

“It was hysterically funny just getting them to be these completely different characters and you end up slipping back into your old roles you played,” he stated. “Mostly it was just for fun for the audience.”

Allen has been making fans laugh with his hilarious sitcoms for decades. That’s why it’s so fun to see him reunite with his Home Improvement gang on Shifting Gears.

Shifting Gears airs Wednesday nights on ABC. Be sure to check it out if you’re in need of a good laugh!

God bless you, Tim Allen!
