Millions of Floridians are bracing for Hurricane Milton to make landfall in the Sunshine State on Wednesday. Some experts have warned that this could be the worst national disaster that Florida has ever faced.
But some fans of the pop singer Taylor Swift, who are known as Swifties, are far more concerned about something else. Instead of worrying about all the lives that could be lost and the homes that may be destroyed by the hurricane, they’re fearful about the storm derailing Swift’s Eras Tour.
Swift’s Miami Concerts
Swift, 34, is scheduled to head to Miami next Thursday, October 18. There, she’s set to perform three dates before ending her stay in the Floridian city on Saturday, October 20.
Swifties have been taking to social media as of late to express their fears that Hurricane Milton will lead to these tour dates being cancelled. Hurricane Milton is predicted to bring 180 mile winds to Florida. Miami is not directly in the storm’s path, but the hurricane is expected to bring major travel disruptions and damage to Florida in its aftermath.
Many cities in the state are currently facing severe gas shortages as it is.
This could make it difficult for Swift and her fans to get to these concerts, and could easily result in them being cancelled altogether.
Meanwhile, residents of Tampa Bay and other cities on the west coast on Florida have been told that they will likely die if they remain in their homes. Tampa’s mayor Jane Castor specifically warned residents that if they don’t evacuate, they “are going to die.” Yet Swifties are concerned about whether or not their beloved Swift’s concerts will actually happen.
America in 2024, folks!

Swifties Panic – Then Get Backlash
“Will Eras Tour in Miami be postponed due to the hurricane? Or is that area not affected? Hope everyone is staying safe [right now],” one Swiftie wrote on social media. Another added, “Who else going to Eras Tour Miami is scared.”
“If these stupid hurricanes end up interfering with the Eras Tour Miami and they’re gonna have to be cancelled I’m gonna lose it,” a third enraged Swiftie commented, adding that they “did not go through an entire Ticketmaster battle for this.”
The horror!
Thankfully, these Swifties are now being hit with backlash for being concerned about concerts when lives are at stake.
“Respectfully I don’t give a […] if you miss the Eras Tour Miami [because] of the hurricane,” one person commented. “So many people have been impacted and y’all care about a […] concert? Sorry you bought the tickets a year ago but if it comes to it you’ll get refunded.”
Tampa Swiftie Torches Fellow Fans
Another Tampa resident who is a Swiftie with tickets to next week’s concerts even stepped in to blast her fellow fans for their fears.
“My city is about to be absolutely destroyed, we had no choice but to evacuate and we already lost EVERYTHING in [storm] Helene last week,” this Swiftie stated. “The Eras Tour is the last thing on my mind, and you should prioritize fans’ safety.”
Swift is arguably the most popular pop star in the world right now, and her fanbase is as loyal as they come. This, however, is taking things way too far.
Swift herself has yet to comment on the situation at the time of this writing. It would be nice if Swift would at least break her silence to call off her fans. They shouldn’t be more worried about her concerts than they are about the lives that will be destroyed.
Please pray for the people of Florida.
