Dean Cain played Superman himself on the beloved television show Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 until it went off the air in 1997. In a new interview, Cain has shocked his fans by revealing that he was sexually harassed on the set of this iconic show.

Cain Reveals He Was Sexually Harassed

“I could have had the biggest sexual harassment lawsuit in Hollywood history,” Cain, 59, told Variety.

When pressed for details on this allegation, Cain declined to comment any further. However, he admitted that the alleged sexual harassment took a toll on his relationship with his then-volleyball star girlfriend Gabrielle Reece.

“There were always murmurs,” Cain confessed of the claims.

Despite this, Cain still enjoyed his time on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He particularly enjoyed working with Teri Hatcher, who played Lois Lane on the show.

“Teri Hatcher and I were making out all the time in beds, half clothes on, half off,” he recalled. “Teri was the best Lois Lane of all time, in my opinion. She just drove the show.”

Decades later, Cain doesn’t mind being looked at as a sex symbol, even after the sexual harassment that he alleged occurred on the show’s set.

“Any guy who tells you he feels bad being objectified, I mean, really? Come on,” he explained. “It’s a wonderful compliment.”

Cain’s Fond Memories Of Playing Superman

Cain, who briefly played professional football before going into acting, also looks back fondly at the financial boost that he got from this show. Indeed, he said that he made “more money than I had ever seen in my life.”

“My entire contract for the Buffalo Bills was equal to a couple episodes of Lois & Clark,” Cain admitted.

Cain went on to talk about the iconic costume that he wore to play Superman.

“When they first brought it to me, it was this royal blue spandex bodysuit,” he recalled. “We ended up putting in stirrups so that it stayed in place. And the boots were a whole lace-up thing at first. We worked on it as time went on.”

“I remember it being 110 [degrees] in Burbank. In the Superman suit, you can’t sweat. If you sweat, it balls up. So I didn’t,” Cain continued. “I’m a Japanese dude. I don’t sweat that much. I’m not hairy at all. They didn’t have to shave my chest or anything. But still …”

Cain’s Regrets

Despite his fond memories of his work on this show, Cain still doesn’t believe that he got the pay that he deserved.

“I didn’t know enough back then about residuals,” he stated. “Warner Bros. buries the bodies deep and makes it look like it’s lost money. There’s no possible way. But I should have sued.”

“George Clooney did it. He sued on ER and got a big payout for his participation,” Cain concluded. “I was advised not to because ‘You don’t want to bite the hand that feeds you.’”

Cain has long been one of the only Hollywood stars who hasn’t been afraid to express his conservative Christian values. This makes him a rarity in the entertainment industry today. In the end, he will always be Superman to millions of fans all around the world.

God bless you, Dean Cain!
