Last week, we reported that CBS had fired Stephen Colbert and canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Afterwards, a “We’re With Colbert” rally was scheduled to take place on Sunday outside the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

Much to Colbert’s humiliation, however, barely any protesters showed up. This caused the rally to spectacularly backfire. Indeed, it only proved just how few people are truly still watching The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The rally simply showed CBS executives that they made the right decision in canceling this deeply unpopular program.

‘We’re With Colbert’ Protest Fail

Colbert’s firing was revealed to the world on Thursday. Just three days later, the “We’re With Colbert” protest took place outside the CBS Broadcast Center on Manhattan’s West Side. Unfortunately for everyone involved with planning this rally, however, just twenty protesters showed up.

“A Big Apple rally in support of on-his-way-out Late Show host Stephen Colbert drew fewer than two dozen people Sunday — with even the NYPD cops on scene quickly calling it a day since most of the demonstrators left after just a few minutes,” The New York Post reported.

Ouch, that has got to sting for Colbert!

‘We’re With Colbert’ Protesters Come Unglued

As organizers desperately tried to save the rally, they attempted to claim that it was supposed to be part of a nationwide call for “integrity.”

“Our country is not perfect, never has been,” said the event’s main organizer. He would only identify himself by his first name Matt, though he made sure to add that his nickname is “Slim.”

“But we’ve always had the First Amendment, and now Mango Mussolini is trying to take that from us,” he continued. This is a derogatory nickname that leftists have taken to calling President Donald Trump as of late.

“This is a First Amendment attack,” lamented one of the few protesters who showed up to this rally. “We can’t stand for that.”

CBS Loses $40-50 Million A Year On Colbert’s Show

Given how critical Colbert has been of President Trump, many liberals immediately claimed that his late night show was canceled for political reasons. However, it has since been revealed that CBS loses $40-50 million a year on The Late Show. This makes it clear that Colbert’s show was actually canceled for financial reasons stemming from low ratings.

“Colbert gets no advertising and late night is a tough spot,” one source with direct knowledge of CBS’s decision told The New York Post. “Colbert might be No. 1, but who watches late night TV anymore?”

The insider went on to say that CBS is a “melting ice cube” with its losses and cost overruns. That’s why executives are launching a plan to enhance CBS Sports. They also are eager to invest in in “truth-based” news at a network that conservatives have long claimed has a strong liberal bias.

Colbert Only Has Himself To Blame

There was a time when late night was something that all Americans could enjoy regardless of their political leanings. That all changed in recent years, when liberal late night hosts like Colbert shamelessly politicized their shows, alienating half of their audience in the process.

In the end, the fact that only 20 protesters showed up to yesterday’s “We’re With Colbert” rally sums up this entire situation perfectly. Despite what Colbert and his fellow liberal elites say, his show wasn’t canceled for political reasons. Instead, it was canceled because nobody is watching it anymore.

It’s as simple as that.
