Last weekend, the country music star Morgan Wallen made headlines when he walked off the set of Saturday Night Live! during the show’s closing credits. This raised some eyebrows, as the musical guest customarily stays on the sketch comedy show’s set during the closing credits.

He then escalated the situation by posting that he couldn’t wait to get home to “God’s country.”

It seems the SNL team might not be so happy about it.

SNL Attacks Wallen

On Saturday night’s episode of Saturday Night Live!, the show took the opportunity to take a jab at Wallen in the wake of this incident.

During Saturday’s “Weekend Update” segment, host Colin Jost made a point of referencing Wallen.

“Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion,” Jost said. “Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights.”

Wallen Walks Off SNL Set

This comes after Wallen appeared on Saturday Night Live! the week before. Though his performances went well, Wallen shocked viewers when he walked off the stage at the end of the show before the end of the closing credits.

On Saturday Night Live!, it’s customary for both the musical guest and the host to stick around as the cast congratulates one another for another completed show while the credits roll. Instead, Wallen walked offstage right after he was congratulated by host Mikey Madison, leaving her alone with the Saturday Night Live! cast members.

Afterwards, Wallen was interviewed on Theo Von’s “Last Weekend” podcast. There, Wallen admitted that, first of all, he still isn’t comfortable with fame.

“It’s still weird, and there’s parts of [fame] that I don’t like,” confessed Wallen, 31. “I think anybody who has to deal with that … it’s not ideal.”

“It’s not ideal to go everywhere, and even if you don’t get bothered, you were on edge the whole time because you thought you might,” he continued. “There’s things that you just don’t do. There’s just things you don’t do anymore.”

Wallen Discusses Life Post-Arrest

Earlier in the week, Wallen opened up about how he deals with fame. When asked if he can still go out to bars without being noticed, Wallen revealed something that will certainly come as a surprise to fans who have followed his career for years. According to Wallen, he hasn’t set foot in a bar since he was arrested at the Eric Church’s bar Chief’s in Nashville last year. In the wake of this incident, Wallen believes it’s “best” that he stays away from bars for the time being.

“I mean, if you’re using a bar as a specific example, that’s definitely the best thing for me,” Wallen explained. “I ain’t been in a bar since the last time I was in a bar that everybody knows about.”

While Wallen has been avoiding bars in the wake of his arrest, there’s one activity that he continues to partake in: hunting. Indeed, Wallen knows that he can always escape the downsides of fame when he’s hunting with his friends.

“I can go be with my buddies. I’m in the middle of nowhere, I can be at ease,” Wallen concluded. “I can not stress out. You just find ways to supplement it, I think, you know?”

This has clearly been a very difficult few weeks for Morgan Wallen. Please join us in saying a prayer for him!
