Sharon Stone has revealed the shocking moment her ex-husband decided he was “done” with her.

The 68-year-old actress found “gigantic” tumors in her breasts in 2001, which were ultimately found to be benign and were surgically removed.

However, during an interview on The Person Who Believed in Me podcast, Sharon said she admitted that she was prepared to have a double mastectomy, which was ultimately the clincher for her then-husband.

She said, “One of the tumors was bigger than the size of my entire left breast. The doctor had come out to my house and said, ‘Look, we think you should have a bilateral mastectomy.”

“This is really bad. And we usually, when they’re all the way up into here, we know before we go in that they’re cancer.”

Sharon then said that she “doesn’t have cancer,” to which the doctor told her she “doesn’t get to decide that.”

At which point the Basic Instinct star stated that she was “deciding that I will have a bilateral, because I’m not f****** around.”

“Ridiculous”

Her husband, whom she didn’t name, then said it was “ridiculous.”

Podcast host David Begnaud asked Sharon, “Which part was ridiculous?”

Sharon replied, “That I would have a bilateral. He was furious.”

When Begnaud said he thought he would have been more upset by the fact that the potential cancer “might kill” her, Sharon said, “No, no.”

He then asked the screen star if she thought her ex was angry about her “breasts being removed,” with Sharon responding, “Yeah. And so the doctor said to him, ‘If I had more patients like her, we’d have more women alive today. You need to sit down.’ And I said, ‘I make the decisions, not you.’”

“That was the end of the marriage. That was it. He was done with me. It was just over in the room. You could just tell. It was over. He thought I was ridiculous. … thought it was foolish. He thought I was making too many decisions myself.”

While Sharon didn’t go so far as to name the husband in question, she was married to Phil Bronstein, the father of her adopted son Roan, from 1998 to 2004.

As she revealed the 2001 cancer scare in her 2021 memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, the timing would suggest it was Bronstein she was referring to.

Sharon was married to TV producer Michael Greenburg for six years before marrying Bronstein.
