It’s been over 100 days since the TODAY show host Savannah Guthrie’s 84 year-old mother Nancy Guthrie was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Sadly, no trace of Nancy has been found, and she remains missing at this time.

Now, it’s been revealed that Savannah, 54, has quietly spent $500,000 on private investigators in a desperate attempt to find her mom. This comes after Savannah allegedly lost faith in the official investigation into her mother’s disappearance.

Savannah Refuses To Give Up

An insider told The Sun that though many have lost hope that Nancy will ever be found, Savannah “has told everyone involved that the search will continue for as long as necessary.”

“She is not prepared to stop looking for her mother,” the source continued. “She feels that depending only on the official investigation is not enough anymore – that’s why she’s investing so heavily in private investigators and outside specialists.”

The insider went on to say that Savannah has hired an “entire independent team” who are “working leads every day” to help bring her mother home. The team reportedly includes former agents, security experts, and investigators.

According to this source, Savannah has become completely disillusioned with the official investigation.

“She became increasingly disappointed with how communication from authorities changed over time,” the insider explained. “What once felt urgent started to feel far more routine. When Savannah learned there would no longer be direct contact with the sheriff, she took that very personally. She felt the family was being pushed further away from the center of the investigation.”

Savannah Is ‘Emotionally Devastated’

Another source chimed in to add that “the financial cost has become enormous, but Savannah doesn’t care about the moneyhttps://www.themix.net/tag/money/.”

“Right now, every dollar is worth spending if it helps bring her mother home,” this insider stated. “By now, the costs have climbed well into the mid-six figures. And remember, Savannah was once willing to pay a ransom, so spending big on the search is nothing new for her. She keeps telling friends the same thing: The family can’t stop searching. Hope is the only thing driving her right now.”

This source went on to say that Savannah is still “emotionally devastated,” despite her chearful demeanor on TODAY every morning.

“But she still believes there’s a chance her mother can be found, and that belief is what keeps the private search going every single day,” the second insider concluded.

Nancy Guthrie’s Kidnapping

Nancy was last seen on the night of Saturday, January 31. That evening, she had dinner with her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni. They dropped her off at home afterwards at around 9:45pm, and she tragically hasn’t been seen since.

A masked intruder was captured on Nancy’s doorbell ring camera in the early hours of February 1. He managed to cover the camera with some plants before moving forward with the kidnapping.

The masked man was seen on the doorbell ring camera prior to the night Nancy was taken. This indicates that he may have been casing out her home.

No trace of Nancy has been found, and the desperate search for her continues.

Savannah Returns To TODAY

As for Savannah, she bravely returned to the TODAY show on April 6. She’d spent the previous two months in Tucson desperately trying to find her mother, to no avail. Finally, Savannah decided that she needed to get back to both her job and her family, which includes her husband and two young children.

“I will not fall apart,” Savannah, 54, defiantly told her former TODAY colleague Hoda Kotb just before her return. “I will not let whoever did this take my children’s mother from them, I will not let them take my joy.”

“They will not take my sister’s joy, they will not take my brother’s joy,” she continued. “They will not take our love, they will not take our faith. But our anguish is real. We need help. We need someone to tell the truth.”

This has clearly been an excruciatingly difficult time for Savannah and for her entire family. Please join us in saying a prayer for the return of Nancy Guthrie.
