Earlier this week, we reported that the American Pickers star Frank Fritz died on Monday at the age of 60 (But thankfully, with his friend Mike Wolfe at his side).

This came two years after he suffered from a devastating stroke. Now, sad details are coming to light about Fritz’s death, as the cause of his passing has been revealed.

Fritz’s Cause Of Death

Fox News has confirmed that Fritz was in hospice due to complications of a stroke, which also ultimately took his life. He was also suffering from Crohn’s disease, which is an autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. This disease can cause abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, and malnutrition. While Crohn’s disease is not fatal, it can lead to complications that can threaten one’s life.

Fritz starred on American Pickers on the History Channel from 2010 until he left the show in 2021 to focus on his health. He suffered from a stroke the next year, which left him requiring “long-term nursing care” for the rest of his life.

“We are saddened to share that our friend and beloved member of The HISTORY Channel and ‘American Pickers’ family, Frank Fritz, has passed away on September 30, 2024,” The History Channel and Cineflex Productions said in a statement.

“Frank filmed American Pickers for over a decade,” they continued. “We will always remember ‘the bearded charmer’ and his never-ending search for vintage motorcycles and bikes. Our thoughts are with Frank’s loved ones during this difficult time. He will be deeply missed.”

Mike Wolfe Honors Fritz

Fritz’s former American Pickers co-star Mike Wolfe, 60, was by his side when he died.

“It’s with a broken heart that I share with all of you that Frank passed away last night,” Wolfe wrote on Instagram. “I’ve know Frank for more then half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny. The same off camera as he was on, Frank had a way of reaching the hearts of so many by just being himself.”

“Who would have ever dreamed we would share the cockpit of a white cargo van in front of millions of people interested in our adventures,” he continued. “Before the show we would take off together to places we never knew existed with no destination in mind and just the shared passion to discover something interesting and historic.”

Wolfe ended his post by saying his final goodbye to his buddy Fritz.

“We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home,” Wolfe concluded. “I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know your in a better place.”

Fritz And Wolfe Made Peace Before His Passing

Fritz and Wolfe had a falling out when the former left American Pickers. Thankfully, they were able to make peace with one another last year.

“Mike has been wanting to see Frank for quite some time,” a friend of theirs told the Quad-City Times. “Frank just now felt up to seeing him. It was Frank’s request to see Mike.”

“They were both in tears. Both were crying,” the friend continued. “Mike brought up how nervous they both were to be going on David Letterman, which was one of their first big appearances.… They talked about old times, how things got started and the impact they had on the world. There were tears flowing on both sides.”

Please join us in saying a prayer for Fritz’s family and friends as they mourn him during this difficult time.
